"You have everything that makes me fall in love"JJ had joined Aladdin, laying beside him on the significantly cooler floor. She was quick to grab his hand, kissing the back of it. She noticed the small hole in the roof that showed the rare sight of the stars.
"What were your parents like?" JJ asked out of the blue, interrupting the peaceful silence that filled the room.
"They were the kindest people." Aladdin smiled. Jennifer could sense all the weight escaping him. "My father worked with computers. I don't really know what he did for work, but it made him really happy. He would spend hours coding or hacking and doing this incredibly complicated math that only a fraction of people could understand. He was a very grateful person like my mother. She was a doctor or one of those traveling doctors that help others during war." Aladdin's smile grew even bigger as he recalled the memories. "Y'know, they would always donate things. Um, when they'd get paid, one would keep the money to buy food and the other would give it away to the children on the streets. The met hind never really worked though."
"Why didn't it work?" Jennifer turned her head to look at the man lying beside her and squeezed their interwoven hands.
"Because they'd always come back with a few items of food and barely any clothes on their backs. They would give the clothes to the homeless and the food to the hungry. My mother would always make these big meals to give to the families."
"They sound like really good people."
"They were. They would never say so."
"They sound a lot like you." JJ made eye contact with Aladdin.
"I know they do. I always wanted to be like them when I grew up. I idolized them, they were heroes to everyone."
"So, you don't know if they're alive or not?"
"They're alive. I just haven't seen them since I was a kid."
"How do you know that?"
"I can feel it." Aladdin tapped his heart. "My parents couldn't speak the same language. They communicated to each other with gestures. They would do the same with us even if we knew both Spanish and Arabic. Our parents wanted us to understand that an action is more powerful than words could ever be. But, It's still good and reassuring to hear those words. The only words my parents could say to one another was I love you."
"Really?"
"Mhm. I could always tell they meant it. Spoke with their hearts, didn't care what anyone thought. I admired that."
"How'd they meet?" Aladdin started laughing and a smirk appeared.
"Los Angeles. It's weird. America made my life much harder but without it I wouldn't be here in your beautiful presence." He winked.
"How long after did they get married?"
"Cinco semanas. Um...I think that's 5 weeks."
"Wow, that's fast."
"Yeah, they locked eyes with one another, shared a smile, and have been together ever since."
