{Prologue}

The day I found out that I could shapeshift was the best day of my life, but what I didn't know is that it would cause many problems.......

{5 Years Later; Chapter 1}

My name is Beth. 5 years ago I found out I could shapeshift. It destroyed everything I have ever known.

I started getting ready for the school day, just a normal day. When I finished I just turned in to bat and flew to school. Something was wrong. Very wrong. The school was destroyed. I go in to explore and I see my friends, Emily and Carrie trapped underneath some of the school walls. I asked them what happened and they responded with, "The shadow is coming. The shadow is coming. The shadow is coming." I freaked out and I knew they needed help, I called 911 cause duhhhh boi I needed to. The police arrive and ask many questions. Luckily they brought Emily and Carrie to the hospital because they were injured and terrified.

Though I stayed back to investigate. I was looking for clues and I saw something that really scared me. A blackened pillar that could only mean one thing. The shadow that gave me my powers was back. That shadow was an evil being. It gave me my powers because it wanted me to work for it. I wouldn't and escaped it's testing chamber area.

I continued searching and found nothing else. I headed home and told my mom what happened and she freaked out and made me stay home for the rest of the day. The next morning I woke up early and left the house early as well, since my mom didn't want me to leave. I explored the ruins of the school and found nothing.

Everything has been so crazy lately. Not to mention that the school is gone, it has been a hectic week. It has been crazy because I have been exploring the ruins, my mom is homeschooling me, and I am really tired. I also think I'm getting sick because I have been coughing and sneezing a lot. But it might just be allergies I dunno.

So today I went to explore the ruins. I looked at the blackened pillar again. Everytime I come here I look at the blackened pillar. It is the only thing that scares me is this pillar. It has traces of dark matter on it. I wish this all never happened, it's like a nightmare come true.

I went to visit Emily and Carrie, luckily they seemed perfectly fine. They were at their house because they were ok now. The next day I go back with Emily and Carrie. We all split up and searched the ruins. We met up outside the ruins of the school and none of us found anything useful. The things we found wouldn't help with solving the mystery. We all agreed to meet back up here tomorrow.

I went home and ate dinner and then took a bath. I was having trouble sleeping so I texted Emily and Carrie. I asked, "Who else can't sleep?" Both Emily and Carrie said, "Me." We chatted for a while until we all fell asleep. It was really scary to think about what happened to the school. When I met the shadow he was very weak. He tried to capture me so he also could drain my life force and make me to work for it.

In the morning I went out, again. We did the same thing we did yesterday. This time we found a lot of clues. Which can only mean one thing, he came back. Blackened pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners, paper, desks, chairs, and many more items. We put gloves on and grabbed the items and pulled the items behind the school where nobody could see us. We look at all the items and we couldn't find a connection that doesn't have anything to do with school. It made us think why the shadow blackened these things.

We went back home and left the items there. The one thing I realized is that Emily, Carrie, and I are the only ones who know about the Shadow. I took a picture of all the items and printed them out. I brought the pictures up to my room.

{Emily's point of view}

I sit in my room and think about all the items. We couldn't find a connection so all of us are confused about this. I didn't know about "The Shadow" until Beth told me. Apparently one day Beth saw a blackened item and touched it. She had to be rushed to the hospital because she passed out. In the hospital, she had a dream about the shadow. It gave her the power to shapeshift when it touched her. Beth went into a coma and if she didn't escape the Shadow's testing chamber in 1 year, she would of died. She was tortured over and over in there. Luckily she escaped and survived. While she was in the hospital Carrie and I were very nervous. But we are soooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad that she is okay.
