After a moment, his head tilted curiously he greeted me, amused, "Little one, we meet again." He spoke softly, putting away his arrow, shouldering his bow and walking slowly toward me.
My eyes narrowed, it seemed he did remember me. I blushed, looking him over, this stranger who was not a stranger to me. He was still tall, though I had grown a few inches in the past five years. His eyes a deep, dark green, devoid of any warmth now. His hair, like the light of a star, and his stance that of a warrior. Yet, his small smile and soft words betrayed him.
I smiled widely, "Hello Lyndon." I heard my party grunt in surprise, lowering their weapons uneasily back into their sheaths, and sensed the tensing of the elves around us, still with their bows knocked and ready. Lyndon merely smirked and inclined his head.
Chakori had, during our exchange flown a safe distance away to watch avidly all that was unfolding in the small clearing. I raised a brow, inclining my head toward a group of elves stonily watching Adam re-sheath his sword. "Is this how you greet a diplomatic party, entering your Kingdom with granted permission from the Queen?"
Lyndon's mouth pulled up, revealing his lone dimple and his head tilted slightly to the side.
"Yes." A few elves laughed at this, while I glared angrily. Their laughter ended however, when Lyndon commanded, "Put up your bows. Pervenio." And turned abruptly to leave, expecting us to follow.
My eyes widened, my teeth grinding audibly as I glared at his quickly disappearing back. My hands clenched in annoyance, as we had no choice but to follow. Which I did, whilst mumbling about how arrogant and infuriatingly rude elves were, loud enough to be heard clear to the Northern Ice Mountains.
My men were smart enough not to say anything to me until we had stopped to rest more than an hour later.
