Chapter 15(Losing Hope)

Kanao's POV:

February 18, 7:00 AM (Tuesday)

Here I am, walking to school with Aoi

Aoi is the only one who attended school yesterday while I cried in my room

The reason why she was with me yesterday is because she visited me on lunch

School is just a few hops, drops, and rolls from home, means it's near

I wanted to stay home but Aoi said there was a 'test'

They are just saying that so I won't be absent again

After 5 minutes of walking, which felt like hours, we finally got at the front of the rusty gate...or is that just what I see nowadays

"K..."

It felt like my world collapsed and all I can see are rust, dust, and no robust

"K...a..."

No colors

"Ka...a..."

No happiness

"KA...AO..."

No light

"KANAO!"

My train of thoughts were interrupted by Aoi who is screaming at my ear

"What?" I asked in a low tone. My voice is quiet but this time, it's not the usual. It sounded like someone whose soul is taken

"Were here" Her voice got softer

She put a hand over my shoulder and faced me

"Kanao, we need to be stronger. We won't recover if something bad happened" I hate that thought. The thought of Tanjiro's condition worsening. It pains me to say but that's true

"But we need to stay strong. For me, for the others and for Tanjiro" She continued

I just nodded and straightened up a bit, trying just to forget a small amount of that dreadful memory

I want to think about anything else but...nothing

All remember is the time with him...all him

This is why I hate emotions, they just...annoy me

After that thought I just shook my head and walked towards our classroom while Aoi just followed from behind

A minute have passed, we got in front of our classroom's door

Before I walked in, Aoi stopped me

"Kanao, have you studied for the test?"

I froze

I thought that was a lie I shrugged it off and went inside leaving the confused Aoi outside

As I walked in, I immediately averted my eyes off Tanjiro's chair

I looked for the three: Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke

Inosuke and Zenitsu are in their corresponding seats but Nezuko is nowhere to be found

"Hello" Zenitsu said with an emotionless face

I just nodded while Inosuke is still pondering about something

There was still some time left so I decided to put down my bag in my seat then ask Zenitsu

"Zenitsu" I said quietly
