RED hair was always the first thing he saw.

Not the face.

Not any significant features that could give him ang clue to whoever this was.

It was always the red hair. Hell, he couldn't even hear her when she spoke to him. The dream was always the same, they were on a beach, with her back turned to him. It was like she was speaking to him but he wasn't so sure about it. She was within arms length of him but it felt like she was farther away at the same time.

Every time he tried to walk towards her, it was like he was glued to his spot no matter how hard he tried. When he tried reached out to touch her, his hand fazed through and he would immediately wake up right after.

But on nights that he'd let the dream play out, she'd turn to him but before he could see what she looked like, he'd unfortunately wake up. On those days, he'd try to go back to sleep to return to the dream in hopes of continuing it and finally be able to pin a face on his mystery woman.

Six, he wasn't even sure if she was real or a figment of his lonely imagination.

Today was no exception and as usual, he woke up, heart longing for an unknown woman. Nyx ripped himself out of bed, forcing himself out of his sleepy state. He readied himself for another day at the Citadel, with hours of wandering around empty corridors.

The Glaives weren't deployed that day, which was a rare occurrence since they were usually sent all over Lucis to fight off daemons left and right but it seemed like Lucis and Niflheim were on a break. It was unsettling to be in the crown city for too long, not because of the nasty looks he had to endure from the self centered Insomnians but because of the fact that the rest of Lucis was left unprotected, without a magical wall to shield them.

Even the Citadel was empty. Apparently the King was out for an expedition, accompanied by his Shield and most trusted advisers. Since he was the sovereign, you'd think that he'd be guarded heavily by not only the Glaives but also members of the Crownsguard.

They didn't even know when he was returning. It was concerning since the King nor the Prince has ever left the crown city. Sure, they had freedom to leave whenever they pleased but it was unheard of. Nyx couldn't even remember the last time they did leave Insomnia or Lucis.

Nyx was posted at the Citadel, at one of the many floors the palace had. He spent most of his shift wandering around, staring at paintings that decorated the walls. Sometimes, his mind would wander to the mystery woman, which only made his head hurt and his heart ache for some reason.

Lunch break came faster than expected but Nyx didn't complain. At least he could spend time with his friends and fellow Glaives, away from his intrusive thoughts. Nyx was on autopilot on the way to the Kingsglaive HQ, his mind wandering elsewhere. Soon enough, he arrived at his destination.
