It was about 3 a.m. when we heard it. It was loud and deafening.

A young woman came running and screaming from the forest. She raced to our door and began to bash her fist against it.

Scott ran to the door and swung it open.

The woman look like she was in her early 20s.

Same age as Scott. Maybe a little younger.

She was beautiful.

She was covered in blood and dirt.

Her gorgeous eyes,

Were bloodshot red.

She rushed into my arms crying.

She smelt like shit and her blonde hair was a wet mess.

"My Father " she cried "she's still out there please help him"

Scott sat her down on the stairs and tried to calm her down.

"Your Father " I asked "what does he look like" she struggled to give a clear description. "Where did you last see her"

She was still crying. Lying! Something wasn't right.

I stood up and gestured to Eddie and told her to come over.

I slowly crept over. Wishing he never opened the door. I gave her a little wave. "This is Eddie," he said to her.

"This is my sister" she stopped crying for a second and looked up. "Eddie"

Her eyes shot through me like a bullet. "She's gonna look after you while I look for your Father, okay"

Eddie's head snapped at me as she gave an angry glare. She then turned to the lady and said.

"Can you excuse us for a moment miss, I need to have a chat with my brother?" I gave the world's fakest smile grabbed him by the sleeve and dragged him back to the living room. "No! you are not going out there," I argued firmly, "And you're definitely not leaving me alone with her."

"Come on Red,"  I said, "she needs our help, besides I do work for the police, it's my job."

"YOU'RE A TRAINEE!" I shouted back. "We don't even know the woman, let alone what her brother looks like"

"Red I'm going and that's final" I ordered. "Now show her to the bathroom and help her get cleaned up. I'm sure Nan wouldn't mind her borrowing one of her dresses"

I sighed in frustration "okay" we walked back to the woman still sobbing on the stairs "Come on I'll show you to the bathroom" I said to her awkwardly.

"I'll head out and look for your father okay" I reassured her "what's his name"

She took a while to answer, was just me or did it all just seem like an act. I don't like it

"William" she replied bursting into tears once again. "Red, if anything happens, first ring me and if I don't answer then call the police, okay"

"Fine" I sighed as he walked out of the manor and into Gramps' old police car and drove off.

The storm had gotten worse. It was pitch black, even the main beam didn't help.

I took her to the upstairs main bathroom. She was sickly pale and her drench, scruffy, dirty-blond hair looked broken and lifeless, clumped in rough groups around the back of her neck and shoulders.

I turned on the radio to try and calm my nerves, but there was only that loud fuzzing sound on every channel.

OUT OF NOWHERE, SOMETHING RAN OUT ONTO THE ROAD AND I LOSE CONTROL!!
