“So, what exactly is there to do here?”

“To be honest, nothing. I absolutely hate it here.” I let out a sigh as I sit down on a park bench. “There is a 7 eleven up the road… But my Foster sister hangs their all night with her stupid friends.”

He looks at me for a moment, “You don’t like her?”

“I don’t like any of them. Carter she thinks she’s better than I am, her friends don’t get me started, her parents, they just hit me every time they see me… My mom dumped me here three years ago because her boyfriend was more important.”

“Nothing should be more important then you. “

“For a normal mother maybe. Not mine.”

“C’mon.” He grabs my hand pulling me down the sidewalk

“Where are we going?”

“7 Eleven.”

“Not a good idea! Please don’t… Why are we going their?” I stop running so now he is literally dragging me.

“I just want to see her. I wanna see for myself if she’s better then you.”

He stops across the street to catch his breath.

“So what’s your plain?”

“Just go talk to her I guess. I didn't really think about that.”

“I've noticed.” I pat his shoulder. “Just don’t go… Please. “ I kiss his cheek “We could do something else.. Actually I have something to show you.”

He smiles “Yeah, alright. Let’s go.” He actually wraps his arm around my shoulder, and for once in my life, I’m not afraid of anything. I just want this moment, right here, to last forever

We really get to know each other on the way to my “Secret Place” as Niall calls it. It is amazing how open we are with one another. By the time we get there, I feel like I have known him my whole life.

“Why are we at an abandoned house?”

“It was my grandparents’ house. My mom left me with them until they died. I was sixteen so I ended up in the system. That’s why I live with fosters. Come on.” I grab his hand and unlock the door with the key I still have.

“Do you come here a lot?”

“Yeah… I hope to one day fix it up so I can live here.” I turn to him, still holding his hand. “Kiss me. “ I whisper. Surprising myself a little. I’m even more surprised when he actually does.

I wrap my arms, cast and all, around his neck as he picks me up. The longer it goes on the more intense it gets. He finally puts me down long enough to guide me down to the floor so now we are sitting face to face.

“Don’t get me wrong, I want this to happen. Rio, But not like this.” He kisses the tip of my nose as I nod.

“I understand.” I scoot closer to him, hugging him tightly. “I’m just so confused. Why would you want to be with me?”

He pulls away to look into my eyes. “Because… You’re the most beautiful and down to earth girl I have ever met. I know it sounds crazy but there is nothing I want more then to be with you.”

“Then why’d you stop?”

“Because I don’t want to ruin what we may have. Plus we should probably head back to the motel.” He stands up, grabbing my good arm, and pulls me to my feet.

As much as I hate this, I know he’s right. It’s almost four in the morning; the sun would be up in like two hours making it harder to get him back if we don't leave now.

We walk hand in hand back to the motel. I don’t know what the rest of our time together has in store for us. I don’t much care. For once in my life of fears, I’m not afraid.
