Ivy POV

"Ivy, sweetie, get up! You're going to be late for school!" I opened my eyes swiftly, squinted at the bright sunlight creeping through the blinds before burying my head in my pillow. Today was my first day at my new school and I was definitely not ready. My mother and I had just moved to Los Angeles from Boston, Massachusetts, which was all the way across the damn country, which meant I was 3,000 miles away from my friends and my father. My parents had gone through a rough divorce which was why my mom had dragged my ass across the entire country in the middle of my junior year.

"Ivy Michelle Daniels, I swear to god if you aren't down here in 10 minutes, I will come up there and drag you down!" my mother practically screamed. I shot out of bed and scrambled to get ready because knowing her, she would literally drag me down the stairs. I put on my black studded top and black skinny jeans and my favorite pair of black converse. I put on some winged eyeliner and scarlet lip gloss. I was happy that I barely wore any makeup because it was 7:50 which meant I had 20 minutes to get to class, and even though I may look like I don't care about school, I would rather not be late to my first day. I pulled my long black hair into a ponytail that rested on the crown of my head, grabbed my bag, slung it over my left shoulder and and sprinted down the stairs.

My mom glanced at me and said, "Do you remember where to go? I can drive you if you'd like." "No, Mom, it's okay, I remember. I love you." I let out a deep audible sigh. I grabbed a donut and my car keys off of the counter. "Okay, sweetie have an amazing day," she hollered as I ran out the door and into my car.

I looked up at the sign hanging in front of the school. Los Angeles High School. (a/n i totally made this up idk if there is a Los Angeles High School so if there isdon't hate if I don't get things right) I sighed and pulled into the first parking lot I found. There were students scattered around the parking lot gossiping, laughing and whispering in one another's ear, l rolled my eyes; I hated secrets. I heard the bell chiming loudly, letting everyone know school was about to begin. I got out of my car and approached the entrance. The office, from what my mother had told me,was supposed to be on the left as soon as I entered the building. I looked around and saw that it was exactly where it was supposed to be.

I opened the door and saw the secretary looking at me. I said, "Hi, I'm Ivy Daniels. I'm new and here to get my schedule."

She smiled, " Oh, of course! Ivy Daniels, here you are." She handed me some papers. "This is your schedule and a map of the school. If you're late to any classes, tell the teachers it's your first day and you shouldn't get in trouble. Good luck and have a lovely day," she practically squealed. I giggled at her perkiness this early in the morning.

Glancing down at my schedule, I saw that I had Pre-Calculus first. "Great," I groaned to myself. The bell rang just then, signaling that I was late to my first class. I ran down the hallway and paused in front of my class and bent over in search for breath. I grabbed the doorknob and jiggled it open, catching the attention of the students and the pissed off teacher.

"Who the hell are you and why are you interrupting my class," he spat through gritted teeth, the vein in his temple pulsating as he faced turned shade of red.

I stared at him in surprise. "I'm Ivy, your new student."

He eyed me suspiciously. "Oh, right, you. You're late. Do you want detention on your first day?"

"What? I'm not supposed to get a detention if I'm late! It's my first day here!"

He scowled at me making the skin crinkle around his eyes."Alright, Miss... He hesitated trying to recall my name.
