The Day You've Been Waiting For

Golden sunlight filtered through the cracks of the wooden planks of the room's window shutters. Birds chirped in the early hours of the morning, causing you to shift beneath the thin sheets of your mattress at the lively sound. Slowly, your eyes opened and you stared at the top bunk lying motionless in your bed. Your hands came up and you rubbed the sleep from your (e/c) eyes and ran your tired fingers through your (h/l) (h/c) hair. Wait...wasn't there something important going on today...you couldn't remember. Then it hit you.

You quickly sat up in your bed, fully awake, only to painfully slam your head against the bottom of the top bunk in which you were sleeping under.

"GAHHHH!!!" you yelled as you rolled off the bed and thudded to the ground, clutching your forehead. The sound of your cranium smashing against wood and your pained yell awoke the person who occupied the top bunk as well as the others in the room. A brunette with light brown eyes leaned over said bunk and snorted at the sight of your rolling around on the cold stone floor in agony.

"Geez (f/n), if you wanted to wake up the entire Scouts Regiment you could at least have the courtesy to go door to door rather than screaming." There were sufficient snickers heard from the other members of the other girls in the room at the brunette's snide yet playful remark. You sat up from the floor, the sting of your ungraceful impact had at last subsided as you rubbed your head and shot one of your famous glares at the girl.

"Can it already, Sasha!" you spat, although you gave a good-natured chuckle as you stood up. Suddenly your face lit up and you threw your arms up over your head as you remembered why you were so excited. "Today's the day, guys!" you announced cheerfully, seeing that the rest of the girls were wide awake. Pretty soon the others shared your excited facial expression as they too leaped out of bed and began bustling about the room whilst chattering happily about this upcoming week. You stood there for a moment, smiling and gathering your thoughts and soon began to join them. You quickly got dressed in camo pants, a plain gray tank top, a green jacket with sleeves that went to your elbows and a pair of comfy hiking boots (in case you haven't noticed you don't wear a lot of girly things). You went to the bathroom and brushed your teeth and combed your hair. You entered the room again and began pulling a dark leather suitcase out from under your bed and shifting through clothes stored in your nightstand. Today was the first day of your week long leave

Flashback; Three Days Earlier

"Great to see all of you could come!" yelled an overly excited woman at one end of the mess hall. Her face, cheerful as usual, bearing square, thick rimmed glasses and her mop of dark brown hair messily pulled back in a pony tale. You and the other scouts were called to the cafeteria short notice in the middle of training. It had been about a week after the last expedition and you and your comrades felt that they needed a break, physically and emotionally. You looked around the room and saw the rest of your friends from the 104th. You waved your arms and grabbed the attention of a boy with blonde hair and blue eyes, who waved back and gestured for you to come over. You began running over to them and tripped on a chair leg. You stumbled but regained your balance, face beat red with embarrassment as you noticed a few of your guy friends were laughing, while the girls just face-palmed. This was quite normal; being an enormous klutz except when you were in hand to hand combat or if you were using your 3DMG. You strutted casually over to your friends and stood next to the blonde kid, hands in your pockets.

"Hey, Armin." you said under your breath as the blonde glanced at you.

"Yeah, (f/n)."

"Do ya have any idea what Squad Leader Hanji sent us here for."

"Nope." he responded with a sigh "I just hope its not some scam to get us to be apart of one of her crazy titan experiments." You jokingly pat his back and smiled a little.
