"Hellloooooo everyone!!" you yelled as you trudged across the gravel pathway over to the boys of the 104th, waving frantically. Pretty much everyone was up and it seemed Hanji had already arranged for carriages to be brought to HQ to carry the luggage. The boys, who were busy arranging their own bags, turned around to look at you and your smiling face.
"Hey there, (f/n)!" Jean responded, his face slightly red. You wondered why that was but simply dismissed it for the chilly morning wind. "How's it going?"
"Good." you replied. You turned to put your bags in the trunk of the carriage, struggling to lift both your suitcase and 3DMG onto the platform. When suddenly, the burden was lifted from your arms and you turned to see Jean holding your luggage and placing it in the carriage. You stared at him with confused eyes. Jean, noticing your gaze, immediately looked at the ground and shoved his hands in his pockets.
"It looked like you needed a bit of help...." he replied sheepishly. You knitted your brow. Why was everyone being to nice to you all of a sudden? The guys have been acting really weird the past couple of days and you hadn't the slightest idea why. You placed your hands on your hips and got a closer look at his face.
"Hey, Jean, are you feeling ok?" you asked. His eyes snapped up to meet yours and he stiffened. " You're not sick or anything, are you?"
"No! What makes you say that?" You just looked at him harder and rubbed your chin in thought.
"Well for one you're acting weird, and two your face is all red." He just stared at you. "You should really go see Squad Leader Hanji and make sure you don't have a cold. Wouldn't want you to be sick all vacation!" you smiled and began to walk away. You turned your head to look at him "Thanks for helping me with my stuff!" You shot another smile at him and ran over to talk to Sasha. Jean watched you leave, his face even more crimson than before. He heard muffled noises behind him and saw that some of the other guys on one side of the carriage snickering at his reaction.
"Wow, Jean." Connie said, leaning against the chestnut wall of the carriage, an evil grin spread across his face. "Of all the girls in the Scouting Legion, (f/n) is the least person I would have expected you to have a crush on."
"I don't have a crush on HER! That is completely ridiculous!' Jean snapped. Although some of the boys, including Connie, were a bit jealous of the way she smiled at him, but of course they would never admit it.
"Oi! Are you brats done chattering." A cold voice behind one of the horses growled. "We have work to do. Start packing." The boys quickly saluted in unison at the unexpected presence of Captain Levi. Had he overheard their conversation? No one noticed he was there due to his...ah...short stature. The stoic man smirked in spite of himself. That should keep them from talking about (f/n). Wait a minute...why did he care? He shook his head and continued polishing his saddle until it was spotless.
Meanwhile...
You bounced your way over to Sasha, tripped over a rock in the process, and nearly smashed your face against gravel. Sasha grabbed your arm and hauled you back up in a standing position. She gave you the "be more careful" glare and you laughed nervously.
"Heh...sorry Sash." you mumbled.
"I swear, (f/n), one of these days you're gonna get yourself killed just walking around HQ! I can only imagine how you must walk in heels!" You looked at her, confused.
"Why on earth would I want to wear heels?" Sasha raised her eyebrows.
"Are you meaning to tell me you don't even own heels?" You nodded, gesturing down to your slightly muddy hiking boots.
"Only pair of shoes I got. Well, and the ones I use for training." The brunette looked shocked.
"Have you ever even worn a dress before?" she practically yelled. You thought about it real hard, then looked up and shook your head, crossing your arms over your chest.
"I don't have time for that kind of stuff!" you said stubbornly."No offense, Sasha, but I think dresses are a bit ridiculous!" Sasha looked at you, amazed, and quickly spotted Krista carrying a small crate of provisions to the carriage.
"Hey, Krista! Get over here!" called Sasha. The petite blonde girl set the crate on the ground and came jogging over to her friends.
"Get this." Sasha said, jabbing an accusing thumb at you. "(F/n) here says she's never worn a dress much less owns one can you believe it!" Krista just stared blankly.
"Yeah, I know."
"Wait WHAT!!" Sasha exclaimed. She turned and pointed a stern finger at you. "Why did you tell Krista and not me!" You shrugged nonchalantly.
"You never asked." said Krista. Sasha groaned and ran her fingers through her thick, brown hair.
"Nobody ever tells me anything..."
"Well she probably did at some point, but you were too busy stuffing potatoes in your face to notice." Krista stated as she went back to retrieve her abandoned crate. Sasha drooped her head in defeat, realizing the potential accuracy of her comment. Suddenly her head snapped back up, and stared at you. A mischievous grin formed on her face and her eyes glinted suspiciously. What was she planning? you thought as she ran back over to Krista and whispered something in her ear. Both her and Krista glanced at you and back at each other and exchanged knowing smiles. You didn't like where this was going. Your face became stern as you became more and more irritated with their secrecy.
"What are you guys talking about." you said as you began advancing towards them. Suddenly both girls looked behind you with horrified expressions and pointed.
"AHHHH!!! A TITAN!!!" they both screamed in unison. You stared at them with an utterly bored expression. Did they really think you were that gullible. Seeing their so called "trick" didn't work, Sasha and Krista quickly glanced at each other and broke into a full out sprint for the girls quarters.
"Sorry, (f/n)! We left something in our rooms! We'll be back in a bit!" Sasha screamed over her shoulder as they both scrambled back to HQ. As you watched them leave you smacked a hand to your forehead, frustrated at your friends' messed up behavior. You shook your head and began sauntering towards the stables.
"Well, I might as well do something productive today." you said to yourself as you went to prepare your steed for the journey ahead.
