(Y/L/N = Your last name)

When Jean invited you to the mall, you gladly accepted, thinking it would just be the two of you. I mean, Jean knew you well enough to know you weren't a people person, so she would've told you if she invited anyone else, right?

Wrong.

When you saw the group, you were hesitant, but were okay with it. Jubilee, Kurt, and Peter were some of your other closest friends. But, when Scott entered the room, you almost instantly left. 'Seriously, Jean?' You thought, knowing full well Jean was reading your mind to gauge your reaction.

'Come on, Y/N. We all know the two of you like each other.'

You scoffed, but could feel a blush rising on your cheeks. 'You wish. Honestly, I don't understand why you keep trying to make a relationship between me and Scott work. He's honestly so stuck up, going around telling everyone how he defeated Apocalypse, when we all know that you were the one who dealt the final blow.'

She rolled her eyes. 'Just let him have his moment.'

You giggled, as Jean smirked. Scott turned towards you, raising an eyebrow. "What's so funny, Y/L/N?"

You rolled your eyes. "Why do you even care, Summers?"

He held his hands up, laughing. "Woah there, Y/N. I'm not trying to offend you or anything."

All you could do was scoff and turn to Jean. 'See, he's annoying.'

But, all she did was smile. 'I think we both know you don't really think that about him.'

Everyone headed out towards the garage, getting into one of the cars. You hopped behind the wheel, not holding back a groan as Scott jumped into the seat next to you. "What, you're worried you'll get distracted with the two of us sitting so close, Y/N?"

"Oh, shut up, Summers." You said, forcing the redness on your cheeks to go away. Why were you even blushing? As you thought about it, you could almost feel Jean smirking, reading your thoughts.

Listening to the radio, Scott changed the channel, turning on some trashy pop music. "Turn that shit off, Summers." You said, changing the radio back to your favorite station.

"Aw, come on, Y/N." He groaned, switching the channel again. "Please, just this one song?"

You sighed. "Fine, but only this one song, okay?"

He whooped out in victory, making you crack a smile as you let out a chuckle. But, you shut yourself up instantly. I mean, this was Scott Summers you were talking to. You couldn't be friends with him, you just couldn't.

"Was that a laugh I heard, Y/N?" He said, in a teasing tone.

It was clear he was expecting some kind of retort, but all you could do was grip the wheel. You felt a surge of pain as you remembered your brother saying the exact same thing in the same tone. You forced the memory back, focusing on the road.

Scott looked genuinely confused at your sudden change in mood. "Did I say something, Y/N?" He said, staring at you.

"No, look, let me just focus on driving, okay?"

"Okay." He said, leaning back in his seat, his eyes never leaving you throughout the whole drive.

As you entered the mall, you made a move to follow Jean and the rest of the group, before they all ran off. Jean turned around, giving you one last smirk, as Kurt teleported them. Well, I guess you were stuck by yourself, then. You didn't mind, some peace and quiet would be nice, and-
