Chapter twenty five

The next morning when Victoria left to meet Marie, Lucien met his investigator at his office, he had paid this man a lot of money to find details on Tatiana and he knew he had made a wise choice.
She was a nasty spoiled bitch who was obviously used to getting her own way, until now because Victoria getting hurt was the last straw for him.
He sat at his desk as his investigator handed the folders, "everything you need about her is in here." Lucien took the folder from him, "thank you", he nodded as he shook his hand and he waited until the man had left his office before slipping the folder in his briefcase and then he began to contact the right people who love nothing more than posting about scandal and of course his lawyer because Victoria had no excuse to be fired.

"You had no reason to be fired", Marie said as Victoria and her walked through the door into the diner, Victoria shrugged her shoulders, "there was nothing I could do about it." She grimaced as she thought back, "she wouldn't let me speak."
They sat down at a table near the back where it was quiet with only a couple of people sitting nearby, they ordered their coffee from a passing waitress. Marie frowned, "well that is not fair." Victoria was feeling exasperated, "I know it's not but I can't march back in demanding my job because it would be pointless, I have lost my job and that is that" She began to massage her forehead as she could feel a headache coming on.

The waitress walked over with their coffees, she took a small sip, she didn't want to talk anymore about her job, she looked outside, watching people going about.
She turned back to Marie who had a grin on her face, "so has everything been going well?" Victoria tried not to smile or blush as she thought about last night,"yes, everything has been going really well."

Marie laughed, "I can certainly tell it has because you're blushing", Victoria shook her head and giggled, she was just relieved that Marie wasn't talking anymore about what happened at her job.
"So what has been going on with your life?" Victoria asked her as she knew there was only much she could tell her especially now that the gala was old news and she had a feeling that the paparazzi would now be interested in her life with Lucien.

Lucien found that Victoria was home later on that evening as she opened her door as soon as he parked up outside his house, he walked up to her and she was frowning with her arms folded.
"Really, Lucien", she sighed, "did you have to get in touch with your lawyer about my job?"
He kissed her with a smile, "she had no excuse to fire you", he closed her door as they walked into the living room together, he sat down and pulled her onto his lap. "I promise you now that there will be no secrets so that is why I gave my lawyer your cell number so he can tell you what is going on." He stroked the back of her neck, "you would have been more angry at me if I kept this from you."

Victoria nodded but she was still shocked about getting the phone call from his lawyer telling her that he would help her sue the cleaning company that she had worked for, for unfair dismissal.
It was tempting she thought to sue them but she wondered if it would be worth it or not, she leaned her head on his shoulder. "Yes I would have been more angy at you and I didn't give him an answer", Lucien wrapped his arms around her waist, "you will have to make up your mind."

Victoria nodded, "I'll sleep on it", she sighed, she knew Lucien was only trying to do the right thing for her and she loved him for that.

Lucien felt his briefcase by his ankle and he smiled mischievously, Victoria narrowed her eyes, "I know that smile and I know you've been up to no good", Lucien chuckled. "Well I said there would be no secrets and here in this briefcase is the secrets about Tatiana".
He saw Victoria now looking intrigued, he gave her a small smile as he leant down to get it, "there are documents and photos of Tatiana when she was a young girl", he placed the briefcase down next to them and opened it.

Victoria picked up the photos to see an eighteen year old version of Tatiana holding a baby and underneath that was a birth certificate with a little boy's name and date of birth. Victoria bent her head so she could look closer, "the birth certificate has your father's name on as the baby's father." Lucien nodded, his lips thinned, she was my father's secretary, she knew what she was doing, she was a gold digger then."
"But I didn't see anything strange between them" she said as she thought back to the gala, Lucien nodded, "I didn't see anything strange either but in my world that happens a lot, affairs and secret babies and no one bats an eyelid."

Victoria shook her head, "how did you find out?" Lucien smirked,"it's amazing how the one person she confided in all them years ago when it happened now hates her after she took that woman's husband away from her. She read what had happened that night at the gala and she was more than happy to tell me everything and all it took was paying an investigator to get me the evidence."
Victoria's head was in a spin, "your mother....", Lucien scoffed, "really do you think that Tatiana is the only woman that my father has been with? My mother doesn't care as she long as she gets what she wants which is money and comfort then she will turn a blind eye, I think she knows and yet of course she was more than happy to see me marry one of his castoffs who had his child!"

Lucien shuddered at the thought, he looked down at the documents that included an adoption certificate and DNA tests that proved that the baby was his half brother, "that's how she became rich, she sold her baby with thanks to my father for helping and that is why tomorrow because of what she and also my parents did to you, all this will be exposed."

Victoria knew that he was doing this for himself too, she took his hand, "what about your half brother? You will be dragging him into all this." Lucien nodded, "I've looked him up and he knows about it all, he's a fifteen year old boy with a nice family and he's happy and that's all I care about when it comes to him."
Victoria kissed his cheek, she loved him more now for saying that and she knew he was angry and hurt, "let's have a drink and I'll make us some food".

Lucien smiled tiredly as she got up from his lap, "that would be nice", he said as he placed everything back into his briefcase and then followed her into the kitchen to pour out the wine.
