As we arrived at the Nacrene Gym, we all had a meeting.
"Alright, everyone." I told everyone. "The Gym Leader's name is Lenora. She favors Normal Types, which makes her team weak to Fighting and immune to Ghost Type moves. Crystal and Dewott can come with me."
"Can I come too, Michael?" Pearl asked me.
"Sure." I answer.
"What about my mom and dad?" Pearl asked me.
"They can come too." I said.
"Teehee." Pearl giggled.
After our meeting, we all went inside the Nacrene Gym. The Nacrene Gym is in the back of the Nacrene Museum. The Gym consists of a library and a downstairs room, in which the Gym Leader, Lenora, was located. The library contains numerous large bookshelves; five of these bookshelves have small step ladders in front of them. When we walk up these ladders, we can interact with a book. We must find the memos within the books and answer the questions in them by finding another book. After finding all of them, one of the bookshelves will move aside, which will let us reach the lower room to battle Lenora.
"Wow, Hun!" Crystal whispered. "This library is HUGE!"
"Yes." Pearl said. "It IS big."
"Alright everyone." I told everyone. "Let's look for clues."
Eventually, we all found some clues which opened the stairs leading to Lenora. Then, we all walked down the stairs to see Lenora.
"Welcome! The director of the Nacrene Museum and the Nacrene Gym's Leader is me! Lenora!" Lenora introduces herself. "Well then, challenger, I'm going to research how you battle with the Pokémon you've so lovingly raised!"
We were then challenged to battle Gym Leader Lenora!
Gym Leader Lenora sent out a Lv. 18 Herdier.
"Go! Dewott!" I said, sending out Dewott to battle. Dewott was Lv. 20.
"Dewott! Use 'Razor Shell'!" I commanded my partner. Dewott then uses the move using his two scalchops on his hips. The opposing Herdier faints!
"Now, with that move, I'm beginning to see what kind of Trainer you are." Lenora said.
Then, Gym Leader Lenora sends out a Lv. 20 Watchog. "No matter how grim the situation, I'll use my research skills to find a winning strategy!" Lenora said.
"Dewott!" I shout. "Use 'Razor Shell' again!"
Dewott used Razor Shell again to attack the opposing Watchog. The opposing Watchog faints.
We defeated Gym Leader Lenora!
"My theory about you was correct." Lenora said, giving me 2,400 Poké Dollars "You're more than just talented... You're motivated! I salute you! Your fighting style is so enchanting. It is charming. You are a Pokémon Trainer worthy of receiving this Basic Badge!"
Then, I received the Basic Badge from Lenora. This makes two of the eight Gym Badges!
"If you have two Badges, traded Pokémon up to Lv. 30 will obey you. Here, I also want you to have this TM." Lenora adds, handing me TM67: Retaliate. "Retaliate does a lot more damage if an ally fainted the turn before you use it! If you master the timing, you can defeat even strong opponents."
"Thanks a lot, Lenora!" I said, leaving the Gym with joy.
After defeating Lenora, Crystal, Dewott, and I met back with everyone outside.
