"The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it."✧
After a few silent weeks, Megumi gave up any hope that he could ever build up enough courage to confess, let alone hint his feelings. Everything just felt so wrong, it felt like this was all he could get to, that the final destination is just more than friends, but not enough chemistry for them to become lovers. These restless nights led to him wandering to a random bench on campus at midnight to question his thoughts, which coincidentally was just in the plain sight of the girl's dorm room ; she could see him through the windows clearly.
"Fushiguro?" she said to herself.
Grabbing a cozy sweater and hopping out on her bunny slippers, she ran towards his spot, the cold breath evaporating into thin air.
"Yuki, why are you here so late?"
"I would ask you the same thing. I saw you from my window and thought that I ought to check up on you, you know after the movie night, you've been gloomy for a few weeks, are you really okay?" she asked, breathing heavily and sitting down on the spot next to him, while leaving a bit of space in between.
"It's just gets like it sometimes, it's not a big deal or anything," he lied, "You should go to sleep, staying up late isn't good."
"I couldn't sleep too you know, I was lost in my thoughts again."
"About last week's mission?" he suggested.
"You guessed right...and maybe some other things. My mind's all stuffed recently, I wonder why," the girl sighed, clearly knowing it was because of thinking of him.
"Really? For me I'm just..tired or stressed?"
"Sounds like lying, talk to me, I'll help you," offered Yuki, looking into his eyes with a pleasing expression.
"No I shouldn't worry you about these things...maybe you should get back to bed."
"Don't try to lecture me when you're outside in the freezing cold in the middle of the night!" she lectured him herself, "It's my duty as a friend and classmate to make sure you're okay, especially since you're so out of it during our missions, it's affecting your performance." The words jammed together and clashed.
"It's not your fault..." he pouted.
"As I said it's my duty! As someone who-who...who cares for you, Fushiguro!" she insisted, her words turning her cheeks tomato red.
"U-um, thank you for caring. But I'm fine, really," Megumi held his blush tight.
"You were sick right, you tried to hide it. Are you still sick?"
"How did you know?"
"I have my ways, but if you aren't well, you need to tell me or Shouko-san!" she demanded.
"All right, I'll do that the next time."
"G-good. Then don't get all gloomy like that again, you used to be so cocky and annoying, not like this!"
"When was I ever cocky?" laughed the boy.
Megumi held his face, hiding the blush of his own, but then this rush of boldness and pure bliss started speaking in crooked words of his own, "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it."

It was the night of the full moon. The sphere shape was round and distinguished, its craters barely visible, and the light was shining brighter that the sun at the day's peak. The stars added background to the sight, the little specks of happiness sprinkled all over the sky's surface, it was like a herd of sheep on a grass meadow.
She glanced at his face, it looked different when they first looked at the stars. His face was calm and collected, his eyes know sparkled at the brightness of the night's sky, curiosity overflowing his space and mind. She smiled at the indirect confession, it was enough to repel the anxiety that the butterflies were mixing up in her stomach.
This feeling of uttermost calmness, exists only within his radius. And now this will to let it all out stormed out of their minds.
"Say, Yuki, do you have anyone you like?" his courage gave in and those words danced on his tongue.
"L-like?" she stuttered, "Well, I guess I do."
His heart beat faster and faster, "May you give me a hint?"
"He's someone close to me, that's it! And he has black hair, he's really dumb and cocky, I-I fell for him, though, so..." she turned away.
"What about you Fushiguro?"
He sighed, one more word and everything would just revolve around in a circle again. But a simple 'I like you' is too hard, for the both of them even.
A knot tied in his stomach, tangling his words.
"I-I do, I told you about them in the booth didn't I, I still have feelings for the same person.." he mumbled.
"Eh? That's cute. Hint me then, Mr Loverboy," she teased out loud.
"You want to know who they are?"
Her blush faded, seems like the girl misunderstood his comment. Seems like he has someone of his own, the voice in her head told her.
"Who are they? Don't hide it, we gotta know!" she said with a fake excitement, climbing over with her hand on his shoulder, "Who?"
"Fine fine," he grinned, "she's a brown-haired girl."
He took a deep breath and continued, "She's adorably beautiful. The brown eyes she has drives me insane. She really likes pastries from that one shop in Harajuku. She loves caramel coffee in the morning, and has a sweet tooth and sweet spot for chocolate bars, gummies, lollipops, cake and cakepops. She likes the color red, so I gave her roses. She's funny, lovable and caring. She's selfless and kind, and a truly fierce sorcerer. I've never really felt this way for someone...before."
"Eh?" the girl's eyes widened, she held her hands up to her face. It had a rosy tint, compatible with the fruity shampoo that he noticed she was wearing, "Do I know this person?"
Megumi laughed and leaned in for a soft kiss, his hand wrapped fondly around her waist and the other holding her hair, grasping the locks with his fingers.
Her lips melted, they connected, they were free of the butterflies.
"Fushiguro?"
The kiss caught her off-guard, she touched her lips with her pinky and then held it up. Both of their faces a weird magenta.
"It's Megumi from now," he scoffed, "will you be mine then?"
"Yukki?"

extra scene :
"You never told me why you liked stargazing."
The girl fiddled with her fingers and tapped them softly on the bench, "I like it because...it reminds me of someone, just like you do."
"Someone, meaning...?"
"Do you know why I like stargazing now?"
He pondered, a question mark rising from his twinkled irises, the color morphed with the moonlight.
"Because it reminds me of you...Megumi."
He pulled her into a warm embrace and held her with his hand for the rest of the night, witnessing the moon disappear, leaving space for the morning sun. Under the perpetual moonlight, he swore an oath of keeping her by his side...forever.
The break of dawn absorbed them in, but what even more amazing was his hand still on hers, their forehead and nose touching, smiling and laughing, face to face, finally reaching their happy ending.
