Chapter Three: Pain Is No Fear

I gasped audibly when the knife landed in Drakes ankle. I was debating on whether to run or not but then I spotted Sammy, I shook nervously.

We all stared at each other, waiting for one to make the first move. I sucked in a breath and both of them reacted quickly.

"Hi..."I trailed off when they jumped in front of me, well Drake more like hobbled.

"Drake, yeah sorry about that. I was trying to get some supplies."

He nodded stiffly, beads of sweat dripping down his forehead. I had a backpack on my back, inside contained a first aid kit and enough food and water to last me a few days. In my hands I clutched a pair of indigo razor fans. I did have a knife but it ended up getting thrown into someone's leg.

"Well, since there's no fighty fight here I'm going to leave now. Good luck!" I yelled walking away, but I couldn't resist adding,"And may the odds be EVER in your favor."

As I turned around I forgot the most important rule, never turn your back on your attackers. I felt a sharp stab in my back, I hissed in pain. Turning around I threw a death glare at Sammy, baring my teeth at him, I yanked the trident out of my back, ignoring the pain. I threw with all my might at Sammy and before he had the chance to run, it landed square in his chest, he fell back with a thud. Drake took one last look at the dead Sammy, he started limping away as fast as he can. I chuckled darkly. As I turned heading north, now I truly felt the pain. Gritting my teeth I chanted over and over in my head.

"Pain is fear leaving the body, pain is fear..."
