Chapter 1

The library towered above me and I locked the front doors. As I walked to my car from the library entrance, an owl hooted in a tree above me. The wind picked up and played with my soft curls that hung over my shoulders. It was around ten at night and I needed to be home in thirty minutes.

My keys jingled in my hand as my sneakers slapped against the pavement. The soft orange glow of the street lights covered everything. I heard foot steps behind me and I spun around only to find an empty sidewalk. My heart sped up and my stomach caught some butterflies.

Out of nowhere, a figure ran at me and slammed me down into the bushes next to the side walk. His face was masked in a hood but I could make out his devilish smile. I wiggled my body, trying to get out of his grasp. “Get the hell off me!” I yelled at him. He just replied with a low chuckle. I kicked and punched him but it was no use.

Somehow, he tied my hands up and sat on top of me, pinning me down. His hand traveled to my backside and slid down. His hand rested on the back of my thigh and stayed there.

“I wouldn’t mind taking you back to my room, but I’m short on time. Sorry, babe,” he said. I opened my mouth for a scream but before it could get it out, my attacker pressed his lips against mine. I kicked my feet but he didn’t even flinch. My thoughts turned from let him stop to let me get through this.

He finally lifted his lips away from mine and sucked in a breathe. He pulled his lips back into another smile and his canine teeth shifted until they looked like fangs. I gasped. His horrible laugh filled my ears. He lowered his head down to my face and breathed in through his nose. “You smell good enough to eat,” was all he said before he sank his teeth into my neck.

I let out a scream and tried to move my arms to hit him. The longer I sat there, the weaker I got. If this guy thought I was going to die by a “vampire” then he was wrong. A metallic scent filled my nose, indicating that I was definitely bleeding. My vision faded in and out.

A jerk made me conscious of what was happening. I blacked out for what seemed like an hour, and I heard movement around me. My eyes were closed but I could feel the pressure on my body being lifted and my neck started to hurt. I heard grunts and yells, then a squishing sound. I tried to open my eyes but all I saw were black shadows so I shut them again.

“What the hell was she doing out this late? Don’t people have common sense now a days,” I heard a man say.

“Hey, you would probably do the same” another male voice offered.

“Well at least I know how to kill one of those suckers,” the first man said.

“Come on, lets get her out of here and cleaned up.”

I felt my body being lifted and carried across the street. I opened my eyes again and found that I could make out figures. We walked toward a sedan and one of the figures opened the car door. I looked up at the person holding me and stared into chocolate brown eyes. The eyes widened and looked away.

“Aw, man! Dude, she’s awake. This one’s a fighter,” Brown Eyes said, he was the first man that spoke. I looked over at the other man, surprised to see a guy who looked about my age or a little older. He had blonde hair that fell into his blue eyes, and a roman nose.

“We gotta knock her out before she leaves tonight,” Blue Eyes said. I tried to move in protest but my body was too weak, I just sighed and looked back into the brown eyes. I saw that the face that held those eyes had a crooked nose and a scar that sliced through his eyebrow. I lowered my gaze and studied his strong jaw line, I followed it to his full lips

“No,” I whispered, my voice was hoarse and my throat was sore.

Brown Eyes just stared down at me in concern. He laid me down carefully in the backseat and place a blanket over my shivering body. I closed my eyes, thinking of all the places that these people could be taking me, what they would do to me, but I finally gave in and sleep over took me.

When I woke up, I was sitting in my car. My bag was sitting next to me in the passengers seat and the keys were in the ignition. I knew I wasn’t dreaming because I could still see those brown eyes in my head, and my neck hurt like crazy.
