Chapter 4
Xavier lead me to a black jeep and opened the door for my shaking body. I got in the car and wonderd if he was going to answer my questions. Xavier walked around the car and got in the drivers seat. He through his bag into the back seat and reached for mine. I gave it to him and he put mine in the back too.
"I'm Xavier," he said and stuck out his hand.
"Lacy," his hand enveloped mine and we shook it.
He turned on the car and started to pull out of the parking lot. I looked out the window and remembered my car.
"Wait, I drove today, how will I get my car home?" I asked him.
"I'll drive you to school tomorrow," He said with ease. I thought about it and how I barely knew him. I could always text Kendra or Brad for a ride.
"You do know that I have lots of questions for you right?"
"I wouldn't have guessed anything less, just realize that this was not my decision."
"Not your decision to what?"
"Explain everything to you, you'll see."
"My first question is-"
"Can you just wait till we get to my place?" he asked.
"Now, just hold on a minute, your the one kidnapping me, so I deserve an answer to one question."
"I'm not kidnapping you," he mumbled.
I ignored him and went on. "As I was saying, how did you get me and you out of school?"
"With my good looks and charm."
I snorted. "No really."
"What? You don't think I have charm?"
"Oh, I'm not doutbing it, I'm just saying that your charm might not work as well as you think it does," I said with a smile.
"Well, if you must know, I just told Mrs. Herman that you waran't feeling so well and that I was going to take you home."
"Why would she say yes to let you take me home, we could have been doing the dirty for all she knows!"
"Do you want to do the dirty with me, Lacy?" he asked.
My face turned a shade of red, I'm sure. "No, I am just asking."
"I told her that you threw up."
"You what? I can't believe you did that! I barely know you and you are already embrassing me, usually people wait a week or so before they do that. There's no beating around the bush with you, is there?" I yelled at him.
"Nope."
He pulled into a driveway of a big house. I would have called it a mansion but it wasn't to that stage yet. The house was made out of red weathered bricks. There were two garages and the front door had a cement arch the curved around it. There were steps that lead up to the door and flowers followed the walkway. The house had big windows that looked into the kitchen.
I stared with my mouth slightly agape. Xavier got out of the car and walked to my side. He opened the door but I made no move to get out. He grabbed my wristed and dragged me out. I followed him to the front door where he pulled out a key and turned the lock. I stepped inside the house into a wooded floor and stairs that went up to where I guess were the bedrooms. There was a crystal chandiere that hung from the ceiling.
He made his way to the kitchen and pulled open the frige. "Do you want anything to drink?"
"Um, I'll have some water."
A woman's vioce floated down the stairs, "Xavier, is that you? Couldn't you have stayed for the rest of the day, I mean, is school really that bad?" A pretty woman walked into the room and froze in her spot as she saw me.
"Hi," I said sheepishly.
"I didn't know we would have a guest! I'm Fran Adkins, Xavier's foster mother. You can just call me Fran, though." Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Xavier flinch at the words 'foster mother'. Fran had brown stright hair and a slim body. She was taller than me, about 5'6". Her face held high cheek bones and full red lips. Blue eyes started at me warmly.
"I'm Lacy-"
"Oh! Hello dear." Instead of a hand shake she gave me a hug. I was surprised at her gesture but I hugged her back. "If you need anything just call me." Fran walked away, leaving me and Xavier alone.
"She's nice," I said.
"Ya, lets go into the living room to talk, I'll be there in a second." I walked to an orange couch and plopped down, getting comfy. A few minute later, Xavier walked in with a tall blonde guy in tow. He had blue eyes and a nice body.
"Lacy, this is Jonah," Xavier intrduced us. I realized that he was the other guy with Xavier when I got attacked and the guy who left with him at the club. I shook his hand, I guess he's not a hugger.
"First things first, you can't leave until we've told you the whole story. Okay, ask away."
"What was that thing that attacked me the other night? And you even think about lying to me!"
