Claire's POV

Why am I scared? She's just a girl.
A scary, tall girl who hates my guts.
Damn it.

I walked close to her table, pretending to mind my own business. Playing bait.

"Oh, look who it is." Came an evil voice.

I turned to face her. As I looked her over, my cowardice melted away and I began to get angry. This bitch is trying to steal my Vic.

I shifted my weight to one leg and looked down at her, smiling.

"Oh, hey! Lindsay, right?"

She looked at me, confused. I wouldn't stoop to her level.

"Uh, yeah."

"I never got to talk to you this morning! You know, after you tripped me." I sat down across from her, still beaming.

She was the one who looked intimidated now. Then, her eyes narrowed.

"You-" I cut her off.

"I just wanted to say, Lindsay, that maybe you should consider not being a cold-hearted bitch and step the fuck off of Vic, kay?" I smiled.

Her eyes widened and her brows shot up in surprise. I left her there, staring after me in shock, and walked back to where Alex was standing. I grabbed her by the elbow and drug her along until we were out of sight.

She looked at me in horror.

"Who are you and what the hell have you done with Claire?"

"Oh, shut up."

"No! You told that bitch! Where did sweet, innocent Claire go? I didn't even have to assist you! Who the fuck have you become? What have I done? You're... You're sassy!" She was still looking at me, horrified. "I LOVE it!"

"Thanks. Now let's go before she comes back for my head on a stick."

We quickly ran across the street, headed the opposite direction.

We bought ice cream at a Cold Stone and wandered downtown, spending our time just catching up, talking about life.

"So, Alex. I don't think I've ever met any of your friends from school." Alex and I hung out with polar opposite friend groups, but we always, always found time for each other.

She looked at me, with concern in her eyes.

"I don't know that you'd want to."

I furrowed my brow.

"Why not? You never talk about them. I want to meet them."

"I don't know if they'd like you."

"Pfft. Everybody likes me." I teased.

"You wish."

"Seriously! I want to meet them."

"Fine. When we get back to San Diego, I'll introduce you."

"Fine."

"Fine."

Honestly though, what could be wrong with me? I'm nice, I'm pretty classy. I don't know what they wouldn't like. Whatever.

"Ooh. To your right." Said Alex.

Alex and I were basically professionals at checking out guys. I glanced expertly and discreetly over my shoulder to see a sandy blond, tall, tan boy.

"Eh. 7."

"7? More like 8.5."

"Nah."

"Hello!" I called, "Yes, sir, my friend thinks you are a fine piece of ass!"

Alex kept a straight face, giving him two thumbs up and a wink. The boy looked pretty creeped out, and Alex mouthed "Call me" with the little hand gesture.

The boy turned and basically fled our vicinity.

As soon as he was out of earshot, Alex and I were in tears. We laughed for a good while, and just carried on the rest of the afternoon. Laughing, screwing around, having a good time.

Hey! Sorry this chapter was shorter than usual! I need names of girlfriends for Tony and Mike... Comment if you're interested :)
