Shay's POV
Chemistry class was considerably more intense than usual, why do I feel like Jae has been staring at me this entire lesson. Unless my mind is playing tricks on me.
"Shay,"
Or I'm hallucinating.
"Shay,"
or possibly did I put on two different shoes this morning.
"Shay are you ok?"
I gasp a quick short breath of air as I realize that a previously idle Jae was now looking at me with a worried look on his face, his eyebrows furrowed close together and his glassses slipped down the bridge of his nose. It's kinda cute hones-
"Yeah, I'm fine,"
Oh my god, shut up Shay you must be insane thinking that, it's almost as if your starting to like Jae a little more than you should
"Do you need to go to the nurse's office Shay? You honestly seem a bit pale," Jae raises a cool hand to my forehead
"Oh no, no, I'm totally fine, really," I continue to reassure whilst frantically attempting to hide the heat emerging from my cheeks.
"What was it you wanted to ask me?" I ask diverting the focus from my clearly unstable condition
"Oh well considering that tonight's party is most likely going to suck... the boys and I, well mostly myself, were wondering if you would like to perform with us tonight, we sort of lack energy at the moment. It's totally because of the shitty weather right now and now I'm just blabbering on aren't I," Jae diverts his gaze to his chemistry notebook
"I think that's a great idea," I blurt out within seconds
"If I'm being honest I didn't exactly know how I was going to get through tonight especially with you know who," I continue exchanging a glance with Veronica
"We're only going to perform a couple simple songs anyways, you know stuff like sweet chaos, zombie you know the drill," Jae reiterates passing a post-it-note with a setlist of songs
"Sounds good," I reaffirm exchanging a promising smile
Maybe tonight won't be so bad after all...

I run into Sam's room the moment I get home, as per usual she is sitting at her cosmetic table with a plethora of new earrings, clearly preparing to get her next piercing. Sam stares at me with an undeniably confused look on her face.
"Is something wrong," she says in a tone of voice as slow as a butterfly without wings
"Um do you perhaps have anything to wear fitting for a school dance," I say matching her slowed tone of voice
"No way," she says with a squeal
I watch the array of earrings drop from the palm of her hands and her hazel eyes widen with a type of joy that I knew was bound to conjure a ridiculous series of 'try ons' and 'make-up DIY's'.
"Here we go," I sign taking a deep breath as I watched Sam bounce up from her stool...
-
After what seemed like an eternity Sam finally stepped away from my side, roughly she pushed me in front of her doors mirror tripping my unbalanced feet and hurling me across the room.
"No need to be so aggressive Sa- woah,"
My eyes meet themselves in the mirror, Sam really has outdone her self this time... Across the mirror wasn't Shay is was a girl dressed in a black and pale purple plaid dress, decorated with lace-up sides sinching in my waistline that was formerly non-existent. I shuffle slightly closer to examine my strawberry blonde hair which had been straightened out and pinned back at the ears revealing a face I couldn't believe was my own. My pale skin has been given life in a sense, my cheeks were rosy and glowing yet my freckles still managed to seep through.
"My pretty little masterpiece," Sam beamed grabbing my arm to walk me downstairs
I shuffled down the stairs in my chunky boots that I actually quite like, it managed to give me an edge that was still me although I didn't exactly 'look like me'.
"Are you ready for pictures," Sam proceeds to jump up and down like a child
"Ok, ok I'll admit you did a really good job this time Sam but you have to be kidding yourself if you think I'm going to take pictures," I sign edging closer to the front door
Sam shoves her phone into her pocket out of defeat and leans against the marble counter
"If you for some sort of supernatural reason can't get home tonight make sure you message me so I have enough time to come up with a good excuse for you," Shay remarks raising her eyebrow
"You have to be kidding me right now, I'm leaving,"
Shay winks and giggles as I shut the door behind me. That girl is crazy I can barely believe she's related to me, I walk along the pathway briskly heading to the school. The sun was beginning to set and clearly, I didn't want to be walking alone in this extravagant outfit in the midst of the night. Within a matter of minutes, the bright lights of the school compensated for the setting sun, the bustle of excited high schoolers raising the volume intensely. I feel myself tense up as the anxiety lurking at the pit of my stomach begins to build up... forget the anxiety Shay, you're here for one reason only and that's to play with Day6, that's all. Rather than entering through the incredibly busy entrance, I make my way to the back of the school, after all, Room M1 is back and its keys are tucked away into the seam of my dress. The back of the school was dark as little light from the school's auditorium was able to reach the area covered in bushes and brittle boards of oak tree. I face the fencing where I enter as usual however it didn't take long the realise that the opening at the bottom of the fence had been restored and patched up. I guess I'll just have to climb over... The fence is considerably high however I'd rather hurl myself over this fence than face Veronica at the school's entrance. Carefully I hoist foot within the rigid bars of the fence climbing it as if it were a ladder, I must have underestimated my strength because within a matter of seconds I was at the top. I throw one of my legs over the top of the fence but as I hoist my other leg over the fence my chunky platform boot jams itself within the rigid bars sending my balanced body into a frenzy. My palms begin to sweat, how am I meant to show up to the school dance covered in the grass I'm about to fall onto. My sweaty fingertips are now about to fall off the fence and a rustle within the bushes awakens the anxiety in the pit of my stomach.
"Oh my god, I'm going to fall into the freaking grass!" I panic trying to search out a place to land in the pitch-black landscape
"This can not be happening right now," I whine out of frustration
"Shay?"
"Is that you?"
As if I don't know who's undercover band nerd's voice that is
"Jae, what the hell are you doing back here?" I ask my fingertips still gripping onto the fence
"Well I was just sneaking into the dance through the back fence, super lowkey operation, but apparently now I'm saving your stupid ass," Jae replies sarcastically I hear his footsteps move closer to the fence through the darkness
"I don't need saving,"
...
I spoke too soon
My fingertips finally give way and I begin to plummet down towards the floor... wait I begin to plummet towards... Jae? Oh God just shoot me now
"WATCH OUT JAE!"
