You wake up with a tight feeling in your heart. It was the first day of fall. You close your eyes and exhale, throwing off what used to be warm but now cold sheets. You slip on his favorite orange dress that reminded you both of autumn. You both loved fall, it wasn't a holiday or a time to spend excessively. It was a time of another change, where you could simply decorate and have certain themed things. You both enjoyed the simplicity of it.

You turn on the kettle and tie on an apron. You begin to prepare a pumpkin pie to bake. You hum quietly to yourself as you baked, holding back tears that threatened to fall from your eyes. Once you finished the preparation, you slid the pie into the oven and took off your mittens. You lit a few candles around the house and bit your lip, standing in the middle of your quiet, small house, in the middle of a beautiful forest.

You let out a sob and quickly cover your mouth. You quickly wipe the tears that managed to slip out and walk over after hearing your baby girl cry out. You smile weakly as you walk over to her old crib. You pick her up in your arms and cradle her close, "S' okay baby. Mama's here," you whisper. "M-Mama's here," you stammer and kiss her soft forehead.

You change her out of her sleeping clothes and into some warmer clothes. "You got your daddy's eyes to don't you," you mutter, glancing down at her as she unintentionally scowls at you.

You carefully caress her cheek, not wanting to upset her. She begins to bawl and you hush her, bouncing her in an attempt to calm her down. "Don't cry, you don't need to cry. Y' know what your daddy said about cryin'. Only cry if you really need to."

You press your lips together and snap your head up, hearing the oven ding. "Hear that? Pie's ready baby, I know that's you and your daddy's favorite ain't it?" you bring her over to the kitchen. You place her in a wooden high chair, laughing timidly as she babbled loudly.

"I know, I know. I'm getting it," you chuckle lightly and place the pie on top of the oven. You flap your mitten over it and place your mittens down. "Say, why don't we go visit daddy while this cools down?" you suggest and slip on a jacket.

She quiets down and looks at you with her wide dark brown eyes. "I'll take that as a yes," you hum and pick her up. You wrap her up in a thick blanket and leave your home, taking a trail into the forest.

"Them trees are pretty aren't they?" you look up towards the direction she was looking. "There's so many colors, orange, red, n' yellow. Yea?"

She blinks at you and you smile softly, kissing her temple. You kneel down in front of a log, the soft crunch of leaves beneath your knees filling your ears. You feel your throat begin to swell as if you were being choked and your sight begins to blurry from your tears. You hold your baby that you and Arvin absolutely adored, close, and let out a muffled cry.

You immediately tense at the feeling of something light landing on your head. You and your baby girl look up, noticing leaves beginning to fall from the trees you both were looking at before.

You let out a choked sob and glance up at the sky. "H-Hi, Arvin. L-Look it's your baby girl, a-and me. Happy fall, my l-lover."
