That night, after the party was over, you and Coraline were watching the stars in the garden. The adults and Wybie were inside the house for some late night "after" party. You wanted to hang out with Coraline before going home.

Y/n: Well, we still have a few more days before school. We gotta make them count.

Coraline: Heck yeah! At least this school year won't be so back. I've got you and Wybie by my side.

You chuckled out loud.

Y/n: I guess he didn't tell you. So you know how Wybie's grandmother is a bit protective? You know, because of her sister?

Coraline: Yeah?

Y/n: Well, Wybie's been homeschooled his entire life.

Coraline: What?! The lucky turd!

You burst out laughing as Coraline rambled on about how unfair it all was. When you finally calmed down, you spoke up.

Y/n: It's not all bad. I'm still here.

Coraline: Hmph, I guess so.

Y/n: Heh.

You looked at Coraline. The wind tugged at her blue hair. You sighed as you continued to speak.

Y/n: Look, Coraline, I uh, wanted to tell you…

You looked at the ground as Coraline looked at you.

Coraline: What?

Y/n: Well, I wanted to thank you. Something I didn't mention to you was, well, back before I moved here, my mother died in a car crash. Some drunk guy wasn't paying attention. Me and my dad were affected deeply by this and my dad struggled to keep up with his job and pay the rent. In the end, my dad chose to move so we could start over. He still works late at night and even though he checks up on me, I still felt lonely. When I met Wybie, I felt better but I still felt sad. Until I met you.

You looked back at Coraline for a brief moment before looking away again.

Y/n: You've been a joy to be around. Sure we had to deal with you know who but when it was just us and Wybie, it was fun. Remember the fog and the banana slugs? Moments like that, made me really happy. But, I feel this deeper connection with you. Yes, Wybie's still my friend but, I kind wanted, something more with you…

You felt your face turn hot and red. You didn't see it, but Coraline's face turned red too.

Y/n: You're not like other girls. You're more independent and fearless. Though you can defend yourself, you still allow for help when the need arises. And well, we share a common thing. We both know what it's like to feel lonely. But when I'm with you, I don't feel lonely. I- I like you, Coraline.

You finished sharing how you felt when Coraline spoke up.

Coraline: I- I felt the same way.

You looked at her.

Y/n: You do?

She grabbed your hand.

Coraline: Y-Yeah. Everytime we dealt with a problem, you always had my back. When I nearly fell out of my chair. When I was in grief about my parents missing. You even raised your life to save my parents from you know who.

You smiled.

Y/n: Well, I wouldn't just let you go through a magical door all by yourself.

You both let out a small chuckle. Coraline then frowned.

Coraline: I felt this way for a while, but part of me didn't feel like you deserved me.

You looked at her.

Y/n: The hell gave you that idea?!

Coraline: In the mirror with the ghost children. When you passed out from the scar on your eye, I felt so guilty. You didn't really wanna go back to the other world, but you did for me. And we almost got trapped there forever. You risked your life for me, and when you passed out, I didn't think I could forgive myself.

She started to cry. You held her hand and took your other hand and put it on her cheek.

Y/n: Coraline, that was the Beldams fault, not yours. Besides, I couldn't let you go there by yourself. And thank god I didn't because if I had known the Beldam would try and keep us there forever, I would have locked the door and burned the key then and there. And I assume you would've done the same.

Coraline laughed.

Coraline: I guess I would've.

You wiped her tears away as you spoke again.

Y/n: So, Coraline. Would you be my girlfriend?

Coraline smiled.

Coraline: I'd be happy to.

You both shared a kiss as the stars glowed in the sky. The kiss lasted for a moment before you ended it to catch your breath. Then you heard a crack of a branch.

Y/n: What the?!

You both looked over to see Wybie hiding in a bush.

Wybie: Oh shoot.

Coraline: Wybie?! Were you there the whole time?!

Wybie: Uh yes- I'm mean no, why would I be?!

Y/n: Wybie...

Wybie: I'm dead aren't i?

Coraline: No, you'll just be toasted. So hard you'll be burnt to a crisp!!!

Coraline chased after Wybie as he begged for Coraline to calm down. You started to laugh.

Y/n: *laughing. Coraline, no! Let him live!

You chased after them trying to calm Coraline down and make sure Wybie lived to see another day.

Y/n: I'm glad I have them. My girlfriend and my best friend.

You mutter to yourself.
