Poem #4- Darkness

This way

Now straight ahead, and make a right-

Shut the door

Grab the leash

Come on, Scout, take me to the library

Pick up an audio book

Listen to the professional-sounding woman's voice

"Sherlock Holmes

By Sir Arthur Conan Doyle"

On go the mysteries I will never, ever,

See

The novel finally finished

About to walk out the library door

"Closing in 5 minutes" says the librarian

Walk outside, almost hitting the door

Murmurs of "Is she blind? There's a door there!"

Buzzing through my ears

Walking down the sidewalk

Into the park

All the sweet smells

And swift sounds

Of insects I'll never be able to name

Going home

At sunset

In darkness
