Jupiter had never been kissed in his life of twenty-two years; he did not have the foggiest idea of how to keep up or give back the same amount he was receiving. The King's - No - Edward's affection was too much to handle but was not unwelcome. He pushed himself to move his lips and return a portion of the pleasure he was getting no matter how tiny. Edward did not seem to be stressed about the lack of a proper reaction out of him. In fact, the man took it up a notch by using his tongue to sweep over his lips. A moan bubbled up in his throat. His tormentor swallowed the throaty sound before it could reach the babbling walls surrounding them. Almost an eternity later, their mouths separated. The disappointment of being born a mortal was visible on their faces. They hated needing to breathe to survive.
"What? Why?" Jupiter grilled Edward in between panting.
"Punishment for ineptitude to perform your duty."
He gathered there was more to the act beyond just frustration or a need for correction. "Liar."
"I am not lying."
"An offender never accepts that he has wronged."
"Did I offend you?" The phrase was a sweet, seductive whisper. Edward felt like he was courting this gorgeous man.
"No, but the step you took forward a second ago to glue us together did."
"Brat." A slap resonated in the room as Jupiter's facial cheeks turned pink like his other set of cheeks.
"I would still like to know the reason."
"Never," said Edward and grinned playfully. It was a refreshing sight to see him so laid back. His playfulness made Jupiter's long-lost inner child rear his head. That child was a tad naughty.
"Perhaps you were jealous?"
Edward played off his apparent jealousy and possessiveness by guffawing. "I am the king of one of the biggest kingdoms and you think I would be jealous of a sentry?"
"That is insulting, I am a sentry too."
Edward established that Jupiter was sulking with a duck face. It was cute. Jupiter was cute. Albeit that, he could not leave the little man to mope. Not on his watch. "Yes, you are but a special one."
"What is so special about me?" Jupiter asked coyly with a blush coating his cheeks.
"You are mine while others are not."
The palpitating organ in his chest refused to settle down in the presence of Edward since that day. However, the rate at which his heart was pounding was at its highest. Jupiter withheld soaking into the warmth the grey-eyed man was exuding; he needed to be practical. Edward could easily get bored and he must have spoken the same sugary sweet words to many before Jupiter.
"I am not yours."
"No?" Jupiter negated with a smile. "Then be mine."
Was it possible for a heart to thump so loudly that one could feel it graze the inner walls of their chest? At that moment, Jupiter believed it was. He believed the stupid theory his mind conjured.
"I-I am falling short of words. I do not know what to say." Half of the speech was nothing but a mere whisper. If the room was not submerged in silence, then Edward would not have heard him. The boy was radiating nervousness in waves.
"Say that you are mine."
That Jupiter could do. He inhaled through his nose before leaving the air through his mouth and announced: "You are mine."
Edward cracked up at Jupiter's cheekiness, making the latter light up with glee. Happiness on the other man's face was reflecting on his own.
Taking his hands, Edward dragged Jupiter to the bed and ordered him to sit. Used to following commands, Jupiter obliged. The other man plopped down beside him. Occupying a space adjacent to the King and sharing the same bed with the royal — in a non-dirty way — felt surreal to him.
"I am serious. Be mine."
"I-I don't want to be a b-b-be-bedwarmer."
"You think so low of me?" Quite unknowing of the answer, Jupiter kept his mouth shut. "I guess I deserved that. My reputation preceded me, didn't it?" The room filled with awkwardness. Edward shifted uncomfortably in his place and Jupiter squirmed from the stale air surrounding the closeted skeletons from the older man's past. Determined to prove to the boy that his feelings were real, Ed reopened his mouth. "Can you do one thing for me? Just give me a chance. Can you do that, Jupiter? Will you please give me a chance?"
"No other person."
"No other person."
"So?"
"Okay."
"Okay?"
"Yes. I will give you a chance."
