Edward sighed in content. The feel of Jupiter's soft hand weaving through his hair was very comforting. The action was making him dizzy.
"I would fall asleep if you keep doing that." His voice came out huskier than it was.
"What is so bad about that?"
"I will be unable to talk to you and admire your long silky hair, honey-kissed eyes, flawless face, thick kissable rosy lips, slender neck, and your curvy waist" came his muffled reply he clutched her to him tighter and nestled his face deeper in between her bosoms.
Jupiter jiggled her breasts and questioned – "What about them?"
"Mmm...I want to talk to them as well. A special conversation" was his shameless response. In retaliation, she pulled on his hair. "Ouch, wom-human!"
"Ed?" That one noun held so much seriousness that made Edward sit up and regard her with the same seriousness.
"What is it, darling?"
"You can call me a woman. I-I think this is how I feel most comfortable...when I don't have to suppress my real self." Her hand subconsciously went to her chest. "I believe I was born in the right body but bred as the wrong one."
"I am so proud of you, sweetheart."
Pride bloomed in her chest as well as it was the first time she had made someone proud of her. "Thank you."
"Darling?"
"Hmm?"
"I am curious. How did you make" — he grabbed handfuls of his breasts — them invisible in your uniform?"
"I used to wrap a piece of cloth tightly around my chest."
"It must be painful," he sympathized and kissed each one as if it would away her years of pain. But it is the thought that counts, right?
"It was."
"May I ask you two more questions if the topic is not sensitive to you?"
"You may."
"How did you hide them during the physical test you must have taken for entrance in the army?"
"My father, he had connections. The senior trainer at that time was his friend."
"Oh, and the fellow soldiers?"
"I pretended to be a sycophant. Fellow soldiers always teased me about it, but it kept me and my secret safe, so I was fine."
"I am sorry you had to bear this much."
"Past is in the past. Let it remain that way."
"As you wish, darling. ".
The next few days, Edward was busy with his duties as citizens enrolled for working in the construction of the canal. Their entries, the paperwork for wages, etc. kept him neck-deep in work. As a result, he did not get time to spend with Jupiter. Although she was very understanding about it, Edward felt bad. To make it up to her, he decided to take her on another trip.
"I am taking you for a rendezvous."
"Where?"
"Rangbad, again. Your whole being lit up after the last visit and the brightness in you did not fade for days. I want to see you that happy again."
"You have a way with words."
"Why thank you, kind human."
"When are we leaving?"
"In four days time."
In the next four days, Edward finished all his work and freed his schedule for taking a holiday. Their bags were packed a night before they were set to depart. They left early in the morning.
As soon as their chariot stopped at the place as it did the last time, a few ladies were swarming it like bees on honey. They rushed Jupiter to the forest before Edward could utter a single word or wave her goodbye.
While Jupiter was on an adventure, he went hunting. The clock ticked faster that day as they were involved in doing something they enjoyed and loved. Earlier than expected, evening arrived and they took off for home.
They set up tents in the night and continued journeying in the daylight.
The last night, the rustling of leaves disturbed Edward in his slumber. Sitting up, he listened intently. Again, he heard the same noise. His ears perked up as human whispering joined the sound of nature. There was someone outside. It must be the guards. Such fools! He crawled outside the tent before standing up and following the direction of the voices.
"Hey, keep it down!" he chastised.
They did not react. He was about to scold them some more when he noticed there were three silhouettes; they only brought two soldiers with them. His words died in his throat. He scoped the area for his guards. They were absent from the scene. He was on his own. Remembering Jupiter was sleeping in the tent, he steeled himself and yelled in a loud voice – "WHO ARE YOU?"
The mystery men did not waver or made any move to speak.
"I asked you a question! Who. Are. Y..."
His voice cut off as his head experienced pain. Someone had hit his head. He swayed on his and whirled around to see the face of the offender, but due to rapid movement darkness consumed him.
