At the training grounds

"Awh, Y/N-chan! Don't go too hard on yourself this time, yer' a prodigy y'know?"

Ah yes, another one of Atsumu's teases. He was indeed correct for the first half. But seriously? Prodigy? You knew that was just something to make you feel better. If you really were a prodigy, why were you stuck with such a weak fighting style for 12 years? Ever since you were born, your mother gradually gave you different "katanas" to play on. It started from paper swords, to bamboo sticks, to the real katana at 10 years old.

"--ya kinda remind me of Tobio-kun when he's still a kiddo."

Tobio-kun? The demon emperor? Isn't he just a ruthless jerk who likes to send his petty demons to kill us? Did he even have a childhood? Are the twins actually related to the demon emperor? Numerous thoughts popped up in your head. If only you never knew of that tyrannical emperor, you would've thought 'Tobio-kun' sounded like an adorable name. But no, it was disgusting to you. After all, it was his fault for the death of your ancestors. It was his fault for your mother's death.

"Just- shut up."

Atsumu let out a sly, cheeky smile. He knew what you were thinking. He could smell it. But, he wouldn't answer your questions. Those questions'll be solved soon, very soon. So why bother spoiling all the fun?

The 'piss-haired jerk' cleared his throat, and said, "Alright, alright. So just take out your tomes, channel the power, blah blah blah. This time, I want you to concentrate on controlling the tomes. Last time, you must've accidentally let the tomes control ya, which made ya accidentally hit 'samu."

"Mhm, but you didn't have to mention the 'samu part, you know."

"Hey! I wanted you to land that blow on that stupid onigiri fanatic! Deserves it for stealing my pudding!" Atsumu retorted. You chuckled. He was picking a fight with his twin again, huh? Osamu loved onigiri, but his brain wasn't all onigiri. He was powerful. His attacks were strong, yet full of technique. Right after you launched that sneak attack on Atsumu, he tried using the same tactic on you. It kinda worked, you didn't see that coming. Sadly, his nine tails brushing against the wind was too loud, you didn't really have to spend alot of effort dodging that attack.

You returned from your train of inner thoughts, as you concentrated once again, just like last time, which was a week ago. Yet this time, you gained more control over the tomes. Instead of being filled with electric current, you filled yourself with electric current, as if you had magical  powers like the twins. The sunlight passing through the pine trees slowly diminished, as you glowed a bright purple. The tomes surrounding you spun at an even higher speed.

Despite closing your eyes, you could feel- you could feel everything around you. It was as if the things around you seemed even more realistic than seeing it with your bare eyes. Moreover, you could feel Atsumu's aura- He was telling you to launch an attack at him. For some reason, it felt real- Like his voice was revolving in your brain.

Without hesitation, you swiftly unsheathed the teal, spiky blade, but you didn't lunge towards Atsumu. He was confused for a slight milisecond, but then-

Without a trace of your scent, without making a sound, you were already in front of Atsumu, with your blade ready to strike at him at any momment. He was shocked. Your usual fighting style didn't require you to strike at such a high speed. How did you get the hang of it so quickly? His statement of you being similar to Tobio was only a tease, but was it? Was is merely a tease?

Of course, Atsumu didn't want to get injured and bed-ridden like you. Kitsunes are powerful, immortal creatures, but they still get injured, contrary to popular belief. He quickly created a shield around him with magic. Lucky for him, your katana couldn't cut through the shield. Instead, it cut the huge boulder behind him- Into two symmetrical halves. Within a second, you drew so much power from the katana and the tomes, so powerful that Atsumu had to block it with magic in order to avoid injury. But that wasn't the end of your newfound sword kata.

"---Scatter."

Little did Atsumu know, you didn't slice the rock into halves. You sliced it into numerous itty-bitty pieces at the size of a pebble. As you safely landed on the ground and sheathed your katana, the boulder scattered, just as you mentioned. It exploded into numerous pebble-like pieces, hitting Atsumu on the cheek, the torso and one of his tails. You were so fast, he didn't even see the motion of you slicing the rock into so many pieces. He just saw you shifting into a gust of lightning, and passing through the rock. Just like Osamu, you were so fast, what he saw were illusions, not the real you.

In fact, you had actually taken advantages of the trees around you as launchpads, as you launched countless blows towards the boulder, before safely landing on the ground and letting the rock explode into pieces. You knew Atsumu wouldn't be able to withstand such an attack, so you purposefully aimed at the boulder instead.

"That boulder.. None of your ancestors could slice it. Yet they went to the trials. That's why they died."

Upon hearing such a random statement by Atsumu, you thought for a second- Wait, the twins were related to your family? Then why didn't your mother speak of the twins at all? Why was your mother hiding so many facts that you needed to know? Or was she oblivious to the fact that the twins have been training the Kageyama family?

"Weren't they strong?"

"No, they weren't."

"Wait up, Atsumu! How are you related to my family? Why are you related?"

Atsumu let out a loud groan. It won't hurt to tell them their backstory, right? As long as- As long as you don't know the truth about your mother's death. It was Tobio's fault though, it was him who threatened the twins to train the Kageyamas into successful priest/priestesses, and it was also him who commanded the twins to kill your mother. The tyrannical king could have everything he wanted, but did he really own everything he wished for?

"Fine, fine, I'll tell you me and 'samu's backstory, let's just head back home for now."
