I sprinted past the trees as fast as I can go, twisting and turning through the trees and bushes, hair whipping in my face. I continued sprinting until I was deep into the woods. My breathing is heavy and my mind is racing a million miles per minute. I cannot get caught, if I do he'll force me back to his pack. Keep running and maybe he'll give up.
I didn't shift into wolf form, it would have been easier to hear me and track me down and if I was caught, I didn't want to shift back naked. I've only just left the pack house and I can already hear Landon following close behind me.
I'm a fast runner, but everyone has to break at some point. My side starts to cramp and I see a clearing about 50 yards ahead. I run fast and reach the clearing and run to the farthest end from where I just came out knowing Landon will be coming soon. I stop running and hunch over with my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath, god I'm out of shape.
A few minutes have passed and Landon still hasn't come. All of a sudden, the forest was quiet. Eerily quiet. Ah fuck.
I was tacked and based on the heavenly smell, I could tell it was my mate. I was surprised he had been able to sneak up on me, but I guess I shouldn't underestimate another Alpha. When I fell I felt his hand slide under my head, softening the impact.
What a gentleman.
He pinned me down, his heavyweight crushing me. His eyes darkened more than I've ever seen, and I could tell his wolf was fighting for control.
"Hey, I just want to talk," he says as he wrestles to keep me down.
"Just talk my ass, get off of me!" I exclaim. I start to thrash around under him but it was no use. I bent my knees and use my legs to push him off of me, earning a groan from me. Once he's off of me I go to punch him but before I make contact with his face he catches my fist. He twists my arm and spins me so that my arm is pinned behind my back in a rather uncomfortable position.
He chuckles behind me. "I like the fight in you, but your moves won't work on me," he says.
I push my back into him and get him to release me. He falls to the ground and I run to the center of the field. There's no way I can run back to the pack house in the time it takes him to get up.
My magic starts to form in my hand and I raise my hands over my read before bringing them back down quickly. Landon is a few feet away from me and as I look up at him, expecting to see a horrified look on his face, I see an unusual expression... amusement? He comes closer to me but hits something about five feet away from me. He taps on the invisible shield, sending ripples through it.
"What are you?" He questioned, now circling me.
I let out a cold laugh. "A lunatic scientists experiment," I note. He looks at me questioningly.
"That... forget I said that. Now please, stay away from me," I state looking him dead in the eye.
"Can't do that," he states.
"I'm not going with you to your pack," I say matter-of-factly.
Landon puts his hands up in surrender. "I'm just here to talk to you, but I suggest you let this," he motions to the force field, "down, or I'll do it myself," he says.
"I doubt that, it's pretty powerful. Way too much work for an alpha like you," I smirked. "But by all means, give it shot."
Landon started breathing rapidly and began hitting the shield while I sat back and watched him try and knock it down.
It was quite amusing if you ask me.
After I got tired of his foolishness I knocked down the force field right before he was about to slam into it with his shoulder, making him fall on the ground.
Landon gets up from the ground and starts to run towards me again so I gather all my energy into a blue plasma like ball and send it hurling towards Landon, knocking him a few yards away. I take off back into the woods heading towards the pack house. I slow down as I approach the house again and I sit up against a tree trunk.
I hear a twig snap to my left and see Landon emerging from the woods. His eyes are feral and I can tell his wolf has taken control. I get up on my feet from my sitting position and walk backward to get away from him. All of a sudden I hit something or someone. I look up to see Sawyer standing behind me, I let out a sigh of relief.
Landon looks between me and my beta and gives him a death glare, his wolf becoming protective.
"Get away from her," he sneers while continuing to stalk closer to us.
Sawyer pushes me behind him and stands in front of me blocking me from Landon. "That's not going to happen," he says calmly.
The air is thick with tension. They glare at each other for what seems like forever until Landon's eyes go back to their normal green color. He huffs a large breath before I watch him walk off and head into the pack house. I let my shoulders drop and I sigh in relief.
I turn to look at Sawyer, "How did you know where I was?" I ask because I didn't ever mind link him.
"Although you may think your quiet, your a very heavy stepper and tend to slam doors a lot," he chuckles, "who was that guy anyway?" He asks looking down at me.
"My mate," I say dryly
