"What happened?" Ashley asked.
"I-I, don't know. He had been really strange all the time, but I never thought he would do this. I just don't understand, it doesn't make sense." True.
"Where is Jason?"
"He didn't come because he lost a bet against Luke, I guess Luke just took revenge on me." Spencer answered, but Jason wouldn't do that.

We headed to the street to say goodbye, but Spencer said he would visit Jason, who I had just learned that lives a few blocks from my house. We walked to my house and then he left, but I wanted to know what was wrong with Jason. I called him a million times, left like a thousand voice messages, and texted him all the evening. Something was wrong and I was going to know, somehow.

"Hullo, if this is Ms. Crazy Elder please understand that I am NOT you dear Lili, nor I know what happened with her chaw chaw." Beep, beep, beep. Ally had just said that and hung up. Yes, she can be crazy.

"Ms. Crazy Elder, stop calling me! Wait... Are you not Ms. Crazy Elder?"
"Ally! For gods sake. Is the crazy old woman calling you again?" Yeah. This really old woman has been calling Ally for almost a year, but she won't stop. And Ally is NOT a patient person.

"Hehe, I know, she is crazy. But why are calling me in the middle of the night?"
"Well... I need to know something, your parents are not home. Right?"
"No, they have the dinner with some friends. Why? Oh no, if you want me t-"
"Al, would I call you in the middle of the night if it wasn't an emergency?"
"What do I have to do? Kill Lucas? Seems fair. Kill Principal Sanders? Seems perfect."
"No, just come to my house and no questions."
"To your house?! But I haven't used my bike in years...I don't like buses so-"
"Ally, please just come in a taxi or your bike or whatever, but come. Quickly!"

We got to Jason's house with the quick directions Spencer had given me when we left the school. It was easy, the hard part was finding Jason. We went in through a window. There was no problem if Jason found us, at least no police problems. His parents were on a trip, and he has a big brother, that as he told us, parties every night. We went into the kitchen and then the living room. Spencer was sleeping on the couch, and Jason on the floor.

We both noticed that Jason had his face covered in bruises, his left arm had a bandage, but the worst was his neck. He had a huge scar on the left side of his neck, but he never showed it. It was then that I remembered that Jason always had a big neck jacket or a scarf. But it was winter, so a guy with a scarf was the usual thing. He looked so beat up, like he had been in jail fighting all night.

We heard a noise and started dying in fear that they didn't discover us. But it was too late. A light flashed on our eyes, it was Spencer with his phone.
"What are you doing here? Ally?"
"She made me come!" Ally immediately surrender, and turned me in .
"What's that noise, Spence?" Uh oh, Jason here too.
"Did you know that cows fly?" We started running for our lives. Ally had to process my reaction for a second, but we were running together now. They just stood there, confused on what had just happened.

When we got back to my house Ally left and I went directly to bed. But I couldn't sleep. Jason was beat up, Spencer has his nose almost broken by Luke, and both behaved strange.

The next day both of them missed school, and the next day, and then that whole week. Ally just said that maybe they had family problems. Dani said he never met stranger guys than them. It was true, they did have many secrets, but the way the kept them and lied was strange. I still kept my goal straight on learning the truth out of them. Luke behaved even stranger, suddenly even Ryan feared him. He was the most popular kid in school now. He dated Cassie, and most girls fell for him. It was like a parallel dimension.

Friday came and Ashley and Madison had a sleepover, which Ally and I went to. Their cousin also went, she was this cute tiny girl with chocolate eyes and chocolate hair. She was nice and we all had a great time. We spent the next day together, going to malls, buying junk food, going to the movies, etc.
Ashley drove us to my house with Ally, she had this pretty new car that they shared.

When we got to my house I noticed police officers all around the block, their cars were all parked in a huge barrier protecting three houses, the one on the left, mine, and the one on the right. There were some neighbors on the streets and on their front yard.
"God, was another house robbed. Please not be mine, I'm too young to lose my things." I said dramatically while the girls started laughing.

"Well girls, all good comes to an end, it was really nice to spend these 24 hours with you. Remember that I need help with my parent's anniversary gift, I still want to recreate the dinner in which my dad proposed to my mother. That would be really nice, though the card signed by all the family is a great idea. Thank you Allison for that. As I said all good comes to an end, I love you, you are great. Bye." With that I opened the door and got out.

"Wait!" They both said. "Your mom promised that the next time we came here she would have cookies for us." They both smiled widely.
"Fine, but my parents had a movie day, so they are probably sleeping like the dead. Though I DO want to know what happened here, I'm too tired. Sooo, wait here and I'll bring the cookies." Both nodded.

When I started walking directly to my house, some cops came out of it. Okay, I was freaking out by now.
"Taylor Maddox? Daughter of Jean and Marcus Maddox?" Okay, that is weird.
"Yeeees? Did they accidentally call you cops? They did that once."
"Um, no." He turned to a woman that was speaking to the neighbors,"Could you please explain to her?"
She nodded and came closer, the officer left to his car.
"Taylor, right?" I nodded,"I'm so sorry, you-your parents... are gone. A man came into your house and killed them. We don't know who did it or why, but we will find him, I promise. I am so sorry, this usually doesn't happen... I-I never thought I would have to tell this to someone, you are now a...an... orphan. Do you know anything that could help us on the case? Maybe you don't have your mind clear right now, but if you have any information that could help, please tell me." With that she hugged me, and some tears fell through her cheeks. But I stood there frozen. I still couldn't understand why she hugged me and cried. It's not like she knew them, it's just...disgusting, the fact that an unknown woman knew the news about them before I did and cried them even if she didn't know them. 'What a hypocrite' I thought.

"Tay tay, where are the cookies? Did you forget them?" Ally's voice seemed worried, but she seemed distracted by something. That was when I saw four men carrying a black bag that was almost closed. I saw a face in it, then a hand, then his body. Dad. He looked pale, his eyes still open, but without color. Ally's face changed, she let out some sobs, but she kept whispering 'Mrs. Maddox, Mr. Maddox.'

I did the best thing I could do by now. I went inside and grabbed a full plate of my mom's famous cookies. I went outside and gave them to Ashley and Ally. Both froze when they saw me handing them the cookies. Ally immediately hugged me, and Ashley went to call Madison.

"Taylor? What's going on? I heard the sirens, and then saw the cops. They entered your house, are you alright?" I turned to see him with a worried expression. His face still had the bruises, but his neck was covered in a scarf.
"Jason, I am not sure of what's going on, but I guess I'm alright."

Ally and Ashley were both crying by now, though I didn't understand why. Jason talked to them, all the time whispering, he looked more confused every second. Ally said that I was in shock, I guess she was right. It all went so fast, every moment I felt more confused. They were gone, but I hadn't noticed, it was so fast that I didn't notice they weren't there. All the people around me were crying or just holding pain masks on their faces.

Every single day after that was a blur. I didn't cry or feel lonely. They were not there for me, but I didn't notice. The funeral was boring, and the next days I had to stay home. Principal Sanders said I should take the next week to rest and clear my mind, but everything was clear to me. They were gone, not me, I still had a life, and I wouldn't . The fact I was alive was enough for me to keep walking, though my happy and joyful self had washed away never to come back.

THAT WAS A REALLY HARD CHAPTER, THE PICTURE IS THE CEMETERY WHERE TAYLOR'S PARENTS ARE. PLEASE I HOPE YOU ENJOYED.
