Zayn’s POV

“What are you doing exactly, Nico?” I sigh as she shuffles through Harry’s bag.

“Oh you know,” she smiles, “just a little snooping.”

The rest of the boys are asleep, being it’s only 6:30 in the morning. Nico had me get up to help her with her ‘snooping’. It was a bit of a rude awakening. She just threw a shoe at me from her bunk. She probably didn’t want to wake me up personally after what happened last night.

She looks up and locks eyes with me, a fleeting second of pure excitement. But I soon flash my gaze in the opposite direction, red spread out against my cheeks.

It was only a few hours ago that she snuck out of her bunk in the dark to shake me awake, wasn’t it? I have to admit, I haven’t been that embarrassed in my entire life. I mean I was dreaming about her. It’s not like I always do, but that night I just happened to. I’m pretty sure I mumbled a few things in my sleep, I often do, or so I’ve been told. But what if I actually said something that would give me away? Or worse, what if I muttered her name? The thought is far too mortifying to contemplate.

I see Nico lower her eyes, acting a bit disappointed. She must realize I’m embarrassed about what happened. Is she embarrassed as well, or does she just feel bad about it?

Despite that, she quickly goes back to rummaging through Harry’s bag, looking for God knows what. “I’m looking for clues,” she chirps, as if she read my mind.

“Oh?” I mutter. “What kind of clues.”

She stops shuffling again, her back facing me. She thinks for a minute, then shrugs. “Well I don’t really even know, I’ve never done anything like this.”

I cross my arms. “I think what you need to do is ask questions.”

“What kind of questions?” She turns towards me, a quizzical look on her face.

Without warning my face grows hot again, but I try to disguise the fact that it’s taking all of my power to look her in the eye. I clear my throat, sucking in a gulp of air slowly. “Uh, well just ask Harry what’s going on.”

Her eyes go wide. “Oh, no. I can’t do that. He won’t tell me.”

She seemingly doesn’t notice how hard of a time I’m having, which is a good thing. “Be discreet about it then. Be indirect.”

She cups her hand around her chin. “Indirect…” she ponders.

I stare at her, wondering why this is so important. Honestly, I hadn’t caught on to the idea that Harry and Louis were keeping something from everyone. Harry usually isn’t too good at keeping secrets, so I should’ve known if he was hiding something. I don’t even know why Louis would tell him, because he of all people should know Harry is a world class secret spiller.

Also, admittedly, I would usually care less. What’s going on between Lou and Harry doesn’t really concern me, and I don’t care to put my nose where it doesn’t belong. But, like I said, this seems like it’s really bothering Nico, although I’m not entirely sure why. But I have to agree that she has the right to know, of all people. She and Harry are in a relationship, after all. So, even though it pains me to help the girl I love solve a problem she has with her boyfriend, I really can’t just stand back and not help her. I have to, if it will make her happy.
