Cassie crept closer to the voices behind the door.

She could hear the faint voices of Caleb and Nora, playing some stupid game with Sienna outside.

She'd snuck inside to get a glass of water and heard whispers from further down the hall.

She reached the door and pressed her eye to the keyhole.

Narcissa, Remus and Sirius was sitting at the large table inside.

She turned, pressing her ear to the keyhole instead, trying to catch the murmurs of words inside.

She wasn't an idiot, she knew something was wrong as soon as Narcissa showed up, she had only left on Friday and she was due home on Sunday, there was no reason for her to visit.

"He showed up again," Remus gasped, Cassie strained her ears to catch the words.

"Yesterday morning," Narcissa answered.

"Merlin."

"How did Draco take it," Sirius queried.

"Not well, I don't blame him," Narcissa answered.

"Why did he go to the house if he knew Draco was there though, he could of come here," Remus frowned.

"We've been in contact with him occasionally, he knew he could have asked the address."

"I don't doubt that the boys still have feelings for eachother, Draco likes to act like he doesn't but it's all too obvious and Harry-."

Cassie's heart was pounding in her chest.

Harry.

The name was buried so deep in her mind and the memories she had of the raven haired boy were faint and blurry around the edges. She only knew not to mention his name, she wasn't oblivious to the look on Draco's face when it came up in conversation.

She'd asked Narcissa about it one night a few months ago. She couldn't help her curiosity. The older woman had sat her down on her knee and spoke quietly, though Draco wasn't around anyway.

Narcissa had told her the story of the first Wizarding War, Harry and Draco's rivalry that led to their eventual romance and then how Harry had left to study wandless magic and never spoken to Draco since.

When she finished Cassie felt a wave of anger towards the man, she remembered crawling into her dad's bed that night and curling up in his arms. He obviously had no idea why she had ended up in his room but he wrapped an arm around her anyway.

"So they're alone together now," Sirius asked and Cassie was pulled from her thoughts.

There was no answer but she assumed Narcissa must have nodded for Remus continued.

"Hopefully there's no black eyes."

"Hopefully."

"Does he know Draco adopted Cass?"

"Not that I know of, but if they've spoken this morning then maybe he told Harry."

"And Harry hasn't seen her since she was what 5? 6?."

"I assume so," Narcissa answered, "I don't think Draco's too keen on the idea of them meeting again."

"Cassie will suspect something sooner or later, he can't just leave her here forever."

"No, no he can't, I don't know what his plan is," Narcissa sighed, "I don't know whether Cass is too keen on Harry either."

"Really," Sirius mused.

"I've told her the story, I let her form her own opinion, though shes still young."

Cassie rolled her eyes.

"I don't know what Harry expected," Remus sighed, "The boys been through a hell of a lot but I never thought he would have fully disappeared from everyone for that long, least of all Draco."

"It's quite easy to hold it against him," Narcissa continued, "I don't think he's a bad person."

"Neither," Sirius spoke, "He was struggling and no one knew it, I think he needed the time."

"There were the rumors in the prophet as well, presumably he was worried for Draco and fairly, there concerns sent about Draco to the ministry, for using dark magic and amortentia on Harry."

"I know, it made the adoption all that much harder."

Cassie's chest burnt, uncontrollable anger filler her bones. She clenched her hands into fists and took a shaky breath.

All of a sudden a picture frame on the wall opposite shattered, glass spilling to the floor.

The door swung open and Cass jumped to her feet.

Narcissa looked down at her, Sirius at her side.

Hot, angry tears slid down her cheeks.

"Cassie," Narcissa said softly.

She didn't give her time to talk, instead she turned and bolted up to the guest room she stayed in. She slammed the door shut behind her and dived under the sheets of her bed.

The door opened and then closed a few moments later.

A hand pulled back to sheets slowly and Cassie stared up at Sirius.

He sat down on the end of her bed as she pulled the covers back over her head.

He pulled them back.

"How much did you hear," He whispered.

Cassie shrugged.

"You're not meant to listen in to adult conversations," He continued, raising a brow.

She shrugged again, wiping at her eyes.

"Did you break the photo?' He questioned.

She nodded, "I didn't touch it, I was just angry," She spoke her raw voice muffled.

"That's alright, we all get angry," he reassured her, "I'm assuming you heard us then."

"I want to go home," Was all Cassie said, "I want my Dad."

Sirius didn't know what to say, instead pulled her into a tight hug. She buried her head into the soft fabric off his top.

The door opened and Narcissa walked in.

"She wants Draco," Sirius told her.

"I'll ask him to apparate," Narcissa sighed and she twisted on the spot, disappearing.

Remus was still standing in the doorway

"I don't know what to do," he mouthed, glancing down and the crying child in his arms.

Remus smiled in spite of the situation and sat down next to Sirius.

"Hey trouble maker."

She looked up with red rimmed eyes.

"Sorry," She whispered.

Sirius pulled her hair out of her eyes, "No need to be sorry, you're meant to be curious, you're a kid."

"I'm eight," She muttered.

"And I'm 42," Sirius chuckled.

"Come on, do you want a hot chocolate?" Remus offered.

She shook her head.

"A story?"

She shook her head, "I want Dad."
