You crumbled to the ground in an alleyway. You were only 4 years old, and your parents had left you finally, after years of neglect. You didn't know what to do in this situation. As much as you hated your parents, you at least had a roof, and now, you didn't know where to go. You tried to keep in tears. You knew that at least in this alleyway there was nobody there yet, but it could quickly become a hot spot for robberies or kidnappings, so you remained alert as you set down your bag of few belongings. You hadn't grown up with much, just a few different shirts and an old blanket that looked like it was meant for a dog. You tried your best to make your tiny corner of the alley into a homey environment, but you barely had anything to use. Setting your head down on a semi full backpack as a pillow, you tried to go to sleep. It was hard, of course. It always seemed that someone was driving, walking by, or operating machinery. You groaned and covered your ears, annoyed. It was probably 11:00 pm when you heard some people stop right above you. You slowly removed your hands from your ears, listening in on the conversation. They were talking about you, alright. You intently listened. "C'mon! The kid is asleep, so threaten them, get the goods, and get out of here!" "They're literally like 2, they don't have anything of use to us." "You really don't think, d'you? I mean get them, and get some ransom, idiot." Startled, you breathe heavier and the men notice. "HEY! I think they're awake..." You felt a foot poke your back and you instinctively flinch away from it. You barely had time to say oh crap in your brain before someone pulled out a knife and another pulled out chloroform. You feel your body start to slip into sleep after a few minutes of exposure with the other guy threatening to stab you if you called out for help. You began to think that nobody was coming, this was your life now. Nobody was gonna pay that ransom, and you knew it. Suddenly, another person appeared.
You frantically gestured them over, and they seemed to notice, running forward. In a millisecond, you saw the men get pushed out of the way, and the chloroform was removed from your face while you gasped at fresh air. The men tried to fight the guy who saved you, but he pulled out a huge morning star and they seemed to get the message, which was "Leave or die." You watched in shock as your kidnappers ran away. The man with the morning star turned back to you, smiling manically. You just waved at him. He came over. "Hello mister! Thank you for that..." You said, looking at the ground nervously. The man knelt down next to you. "Fighting horrible people is my favorite pastime, so don't sweat it! I'm Remus." I looked back up at Remus again. His defining features involved a mustache, a white swirl of hair, and of course, a large weapon. "Okay. I'm Y/N." You said, unsure of how to continue the conversation. Remus looked down at you questioningly. "Where are your parents? It's pretty late at night to be out alone." You glanced back to your small pile of belongings nervously. "Oh... they're gone now. But it's okay, they were meanies." You said in your 4 year old speak. Remus looked almost sad, if that was possible. You couldn't respond before Remus picked you up suddenly and started running. You got a couple blocks away before Remus spoke again. "I'm just taking you to my house, where you'll be more safe, okay my trashling?" You tilted your head and thought for a second. He seemed nice enough, but what if he was just like your parents? You're pretty sure he wasn't kidnapping you, because picking up a child and running is horrible kidnapping skills. You decided to trust him, for now at least. You held onto his outfit until you approached a decent sized house a few towns down from where you were living on the streets. You held your breath as Remus slammed the door to the house open. "HEY GUYS I FOUND A CHILD!"
