Thorin was in horror. As is having Azog attacking them out of nowhere was bad enough, and now that a bat had gone and taken Anne?
No, horror was the wrong word. Scared? Yeah, that seemed about right.
So he paced the floor, pushing his hands through his hair and making stressed noises. Kili was tapping his foot and biting his nails as he thought, Fili frowning.
"We need a plan," Thorin said. "And we need to find Anne."
Bilbo came scurrying back to where the Goblins came from, heaving in big breaths. "There are more Goblins coming," he wheezed. "Don't know how many."
Thorin cursed and stood on the edge, trying to look on the other side. The structure on the other side seemed almost abandoned and desolate, and the thick fog that covered everything made it hard for him to see. Fili and Kili stood on opposite sides of him, squinting.
Fili nudged Thorin's shoulder. "Look, I see a silhouette!"
Thorin frowned and narrowed his eyes, sighing in relief when he saw Anne stand on the edge of a ledge and wave. Then she wobbled as the ground rumbled beneath her feet.
"Hide, Anne. Hide!" Thorin muttered to himself.
Almost as if she had heard him, she ducked and hid behind the edge. Thorin head his breath, balling his fist when Azog emerged from the tunnel. He sniffed the air, and Thorin saw Anne shrink back. A bunch of nasty looking Orcs with yellow eyes were behind the Pale Orc, he of which looked up.
"A squad of you, go back and find the Elf," Thorin heard him order loudly, making teh Dwarf snarl as about fifty Orcs obliged and went back through the tunnel. "The rest of you, we kill the Dwarves."
Thorin blinked, paling slightly. "They're going to kill her," he murmured to himself, shaking his head fast. He whipped his head around. "Dwalin, Bilbo, stay here and deal with the Goblins. I'm getting Anne."
Thorin didn't really wait for them to answer. He jumped over the ledge and wobbled around on the ice a bit. Once he was stabilized, he gripped his sword tightly and growled at the Orcs that Azog was leading, the Pale Orc roaring. Thorin roared a battle cry of his own and charged.
"Uncle!" Fili cried.
Kili and Fili hopped over the ledge as well and also charged, following their uncle into battle. Thorin ducked when an axe came swiping over his head, sliding on the ice and cutting through about two Orc's middles. He got on one knee, just barely blocking the sword that was going for his head. When he removed his sword from his head, he rolled over. He was about to finish the Orc that tried to kill him off, but an arrow embedded itself in his skull.
"Anne," Thorin breathed.
She was there, all right, and she was shooting arrows like no tomorrow. She was perched on the ledge, her bow up and next to her face, her arrows pointed towards Azog's enemies. Fili and Kili noticed her there, too, but they managed to not get distracted and kept fighting.
Thorin, on the other hand, was just standing there and watching. He was oblivious to the fighting around him, and he grunted when Azog suddenly appeared and whacked him to the side with his sword claw and separated him from his nephews, snarling and baring his teeth.
"Thorin!" Anne cried.
Thorin shook his head, getting the spots out of his eyes. Azog took steps back as his Orcs started to slowly close in on him, his attention going to Anne who was fighting the Orcs that had gone back inside Ravenhill to find her.
