Last Night Maurice's dad had finally made it home at ten like the girl said he would causing her to go home. When his dad arrived he was definitely surprised to see his only son standing on the steps of his door step.

After that Barry let Maurice into the house and talked about the rules and where he would be sleeping. Barry them tried to spark a conversation with Maurice who instantly shut that down giving and excuse that he knew was bullshit.

Barry not wanting to force himself on Maurice left the room door which leads Maurice to where he is now.

In the bed staring at his brown ceiling fan swinging around. He would get on his phone but it was dead and he didn't feel like going through all the bags to find his charger.

As far as right now he could definitely agree with the statement I hate it here. Maurice didn't understand why his mother would leave him alone with a man that he hadn't talked to since he was at least thirteen.

He was seventeen now and not hearing from his father after him and his mother split really took a tole on him. He expected Barry to contact him especially since after their break up Candice and Maurice moved to California.

But his dad didn't do a damn thing for him he may have sent a letter or tried to call every now and then but after Maurice had turned fifteen he stopped accepting them not wanting anything to do with his dad.

To Maurice Barry was a dead beat but here his mother was allowing Maurice to stay with him for what he guessed as the summer.

Maurice knew for sure he was going to hate it here.

12:00 p.m.

"Maurice get yo ass up" Barry yelled in Maurice's ear causing Maurice to instantly sit up in his bed with his eyes still closed.

"What the fuck you yelling for" Maurice asked causing Barry to raise his eyebrow as if asking Maurice 'if he was talking to him'. Maurice really wanted to get up and say 'hell yeah I'm talking to you' but he refrained from it.

"Since we got that out the way I want you to get up cause you ain't staying on yo ass the whole summer, you gon help out at the house and at the corner store."

Maurice immediately bucked his head wondering if Barry was talking about the same Maurice that was in this room.

"You talking about me?"

"Yes I am so get up and gon head and get dressed we leave in an hour" Barry said before walking out of Maurice's room closing the door behind him. When Barry was out of the room Maurice silently threw a temper tantrum making sure not to be to loud.
