After that night Maurice and Jada shared they were inseparable and were usually around each other 24/7. They were around each other so much that Maurice had got a chance to meet all of Jada's family. They considered each other to be best friends or 'brother and sister from other misters' but everybody thought it was an act.

Everybody was rooting for them to 'stop playing and say you like each other' but Jada and Maurice never understood the reason why. Couldn't a girl and a boy have a platonic relationship? Sure they thought about what it would be like because they couldn't lie and say that the other wasn't attractive but they agreed that it would never work out seeing as though Maurice had to leave at the end of the summer.

Jada and Maurice would rather not have a summer fling so they decided to just keep it where it was at and save the heartbreak that would come which seemed like a much better solution.

"Ayo Reece are you off today?" Jada was on facetime with Maurice trying to ask if he wanted to go to the bluff city fair with her and the girls today since he had never been. Jada was always trying to get him to go places with her so that he wouldn't just be stuck in the house bored.

"Yeah and since it's Friday I got money to go somewhere too so what you tryna do?" Jada looked at the screen to see Maurice playing his game that Barry surprised him with a day ago that he would not stop playing. "Well me and the girls are going to the fair and I want you to come."

"What type of fair?" Jada rolled her eyes at his dumb question. "Nigga what other type of fair? The one where they sell funnel cakes and fried oreos and shit."

"Oh...." Chris trailed off feeling dumb for asking that question.

"Anyways you feel like coming?" Jada looked at Chris through the phone and he acted as if he was thinking about it before he answered, "Yeah let me just ask Barry and get my money together and then I'll call you back."

"Alright bye negro." Jada hung up the phone before Maurice could respond causing him to make a stank face at the phone. "I know this motherfucka did not just...." Maurice paused his game before picking up his phone and texting Jada.

Nigga do not be hanging up the phone on me

Nigga I do what I want.
Read 1:52 p.m.

Maurice read the text and decided not to answer. He would just deal with it later when he saw her.

Maurice looked up from his phone when he heard the front door close. He walked out his room and into the hallway before making his way to the living room. He saw Barry laid out on the couch and decided to ask him about going to the fair.
