"You've got icing on your cheek," Keefe said, while lifting his arm to her face, "let me wipe it."
Sophie felt her cheeks turn an vibrant shade of pink.
"Look, now the colour of the icing is the same as the colour of your cheeks." He said.
"They aren't that red...are they?" She said, and her embarrassment making her cheeks go even redder.
"I'm kidding Foster. You look cute when you blush." he said. Just when she thought her cheeks couldn't get redder, a burst of warmth erupted throughout her cheeks.
"Wow, I didn't know an elf's cheeks could get that red." Keefe teased.
"I think I look perfectly fine, my cheeks now match the colour of my dress." Sophie huffed.
"Just have some cake, Foster." he laughed. Keefe had organized a picture perfect picnic but without any real food, just a little pink cake. He cut her a slice, and passed it to her. She took her first bite, and it tasted like her birthdays in San Diego. Her parents always made her a cake, but she never had a party, because of her lack of friends. But they always made a huge cake, enough to serve dozens of people, and would keep it in the fridge for weeks, so her and Amy could eat it for breakfast.
"Where did you get this?" She asked, while stuffing her face with cake.
"It's a secret." He smiled, as he pressed his finger against his lips.
"Well, it's perfect." She said, and shifted over closer to him. He wrapped his arm around her, and they stared into the green meadow surrounding them. It was almost sunset, and the sun was slowly making its way to the horizon.
"This is probably the best date you've ever taken me on." Sophie whispered.
"This one?" He asked.
"This one." She repeated. She let her head rest on his shoulder, and closed her eyes.
"I love you Sophie." he said, his warm breath clouding around her ear.
"I love you too." She whispered back, drifting into a soundless dream.
