I tried to keep up with the stranger's brisk pace but it was a struggle. Mostly because I STILL had not been able to pee.

"How much further is your camp," I ask in between breaths.

"Not much further," he says facing forward.

He didn't so much as miss a step. My brain is going a hundred miles an hour trying to make sense of everything that has happened so far.

"What's your name?" I wonder out loud.

"Why are you asking so many questions?" he diverts.

"Because I don't know where I am, there is a small possibility that you're going to kill me, I have to pee, my dog is missing, and I'm supposed to be on my way home right now," I answer him honestly.

"Fair enough... My name is Ares"

"Like the god of war?" I ask.

"I was named after one of my ancestors. He was well known for his war capabilities. I wouldn't call him a god." he answers.

"Interesting"

"I guess... You know I've given my name but I have yet to receive yours,"

I consider his words for a moment.

He did give me his. It's only fair.

"Alright but don't be shocked when you hear it. It's nowhere near as badass as yours," I say with a smile.

Ares turns just enough to shoot me a wide grin. I falter at the sight. He had pearly white teeth and beautiful dimples that had been hiding in plain sight this whole time.

"My name is Sarah," I say puffing out my chest. It's a common name but I love it all the same.

He tilts his head as if thinking then nods but says nothing more. We walk for what feels like forever and it's getting to the point that I may actually pee my pants. Thankfully we finally stop, unfortunately, the stop came a little suddenly and without any warning. I run full force into what feels like a solid wall. This wall just happens to smell fantastic and have a beautiful body.

"What the hell dude," I yell. "A little warning would have been nice"

"You said you needed to pee earlier. Do you still need to?" he questions.

"Well, I haven't peed my pants yet so yes I do," I replied annoyed.

"Go ahead," he says.

"Thank you so much for your permission,"

I grumble insults as I make my way towards a tree. I'm lucky I grew up hunting with my family. Otherwise going to the bathroom in the forest might've been the end of me. I've never been so excited to pee in my entire life.

"Are you done yet" he complains.

"I just walked back here, hold on for a moment princess," I yell back to him.

I relieve myself and head back towards Ares. He motions for me to follow him. I guess we're back to not talking. We've been walking in the dark for a while now. How he can see where we're going I don't know. Minutes later he slows and I hear people talking.

"Who is that," I whisper.

"My friends," he stage-whispers back.

"What?!" I yell.

"Relax, nothing is going to happen to you," he says as he continues towards the voices.

"This is where I get killed. I knew it. I knew I shouldn't have stopped on that stupid exit. Now I'm Stranded with a potential killer and I only have my backpack with me and my Hank is gone," I ramble to myself.

"Sarah," he says softly.

I hadn't realized he had come back to me. He put a couple of fingers under my chin and tilted my face towards his.

"I promise you are safe with me."

Something in his beautiful eyes told me I could trust him. So I did.
