Chapter Three
Z A Y N
Packing, I hated that shit. It was something that I never enjoyed doing, nor looked forward to when I worked. It only meant that I had limited time with my family and friends. More importantly, I had limited time with Lea and Lexi. I only packed one bag, being that I knew Louis would want to go shopping along the way for some new clothes so I didn’t need to bring much. That, and we always got to keep whatever outfit we had to wear on tour.
I looked over at Lea who was playing with her dolls. It surprised me that in just three days, she’ll be two years old. Two fucking years old. My baby was growing fast and I kinda hated it. Next, the boys would be rolling in and I can’t have that. The first boy she brings home, I will give him hell and then maybe he’ll rethink about dating my daughter.
She looked up at me, smiling the same smile that I share. I sighed contently, remembering the day that I first got her and knew of her existence. I didn’t know anything about a baby or what the entailed. Hell, I didn’t even really want her to begin with but she slowly won my heart like everyone said she would. I never thought that I would be able to have kids, let alone stand them. I’m fine when it’s someone else’s because I can give them right back when they cry. Lea, I can’t do that because she’s mine and now I have another one. I have to tell Lexi that this will be our last child, no more.
“Daddy, want ou,” she exclaimed as she disregarded her doll and ran over to me, climbing on top of my lap. I remember the first time she took a step; I was on tour but Lexi had gotten it on tape. I was gutted that I missed that important part of her life but then Lexi told me that I would be handling the potty training since she did the walking.
“Are you going to be good for your mum,” I asked her as I stroked her hair, her brown eyes looking up at me.
“Yeh,” she said happily. “Want to go with you.”
I shook my head. “You can’t come with me, baby. I’m sorry. I want you to come with me too.”
“Sneak on?”
I tilted my head in confusion being that I didn’t understand what on earth she was talking about before she got off of my lap and climbed into my bag. I chuckled, shaking my head and picking her up out of my bag. “No baby, you can’t sneak on the plane. They’ll eventually find you.”
“Nuh uh,” she protested. “I’m Spiderman!”
“Lea, you know this family is a fan of Batman,” Lexi commented from the door, her arms over her chest and resting on her small baby bump. I smiled brightly at her and she winked at me, walking over and planting a quick kiss on my cheek. “Finish packing yet?”
“Not completely. Lea wanted to hide in my bag. I really wish I could take her.”
“That’s what I came to talk to you about,” she said as she sat on the edge of our bed. I looked at her questionably. “Management called. They think you’ll get more press if you bring Lea along for the first few months of tour.”
“Are you serious? They want me to use my child to get press? You know I don’t like attention.”
“I know you don’t and she doesn’t either. But that gives you time to spend with your daughter. When I come with you, it’ll be the other few months of tour and she’ll be able to go back with me.”
