I couldn't let her go. I needed her to see that I am over Perrie and that she's the love of my life. I loved waking up next to her each morning even though she would have sleep in the corners of her eyes and dried saliva on her left cheek. I loved how she danced in the kitchen, only to the music that she was singing in her head. I loved everything about her and I wasn't about to let her just walk out of my life as I sat back and watched.
"Lexi, please. You are over reacting," I told her, only to fuel the flames in the back of her eyes. I put my hands up in defense. "That didn't come off how I wanted it. Look, there's nothing going on between Perrie and I. I don't love her, I love you; I want to be with you. I didn't even know she was coming here." I tried my best to be as truthful as I could, in hopes that maybe I would start to believe myself. In the back of my mind, I knew I would always love Perrie, much more than I love Kayla. These girls were a part of my life in a certain way, at a certain time. Right now, it was me and Lexi, and so far, I have been liking how our story has been going.
"I reassure you, Lexi," Perrie started to say behind me. I really wished she would've kept her fucking mouth shut. "I only came here as a friend. I wanted to congratulate you both in person, about your wedding, and now your children. I didn't mean to start anything or ruin your daughter's party."
Lexi's eyes flickered over to me, as if to see if Perrie got a reaction from me. She didn't, because I was trying so hard just to focus on her. She sighed, turning the car ignition off. I sighed quietly to myself, silently thanking Perrie for her kind words.
Lexi got out of the car and instantly went to my side, grabbing ahold of my hand tightly. Something was up and I couldn't blame her. I knew she was jealous of Perrie, not just because of her looks but also because Perrie and I have a history together. One I knew I could never forget.
"I'm sorry I came her uninvited. I just thought we could catch up while I'm in town," Perrie said, her eyes flickering over to Lexi and then back to me. "I don't want to cause anything-"
"He'll go," Lexi answered for me, surprising us both. "Just not today." I looked down at her but her eyes stayed on Perrie. Was she testing me? She has to be; why else would she allow me to go hang out with a recent ex of mine? Did she know I still had feelings for Perrie? Oh god, I hope she didn't know.
After we exchanged our goodbyes, Perrie left and Lexi and I returned to the party. I still had this weird feeling as I watched Lexi help Lea open some of her gifts with a smile on her face. I stuck a cigarette between my fingers, not lighting it just yet. Niall approached me with a beer in hand, nodding towards the backyard. We slipped away quietly, relieved to inhale the smoke from my lit cigarette.
"So what was that all about," Niall asked me before taking a sip from his beer.
I exhaled the smoke slowly, watching it disappear into the sky, just like how I wanted to be doing. I shrugged after a while. "I'm not sure, mate. Perrie wants to meet up with me so we can 'catch up'. And the weirdest part is, Lexi told her I would," I groaned, thinking back to what happened just moments ago. I took another drag from my cigarette, holding it in for a little before letting the smoke slip out between my lips.
"What do you mean she agreed?"
"I mean that Perrie asked me and Lexi answered."
Niall's blue eyes got wide. "Whoa." I nodded my head, the cigarette back on my lips. "Are you going to go?"
I exhaled. "Of course not," I said as I put the now small cigarette out, stepping on it with my boots. "Do you want me to die?"
He chuckled. "No, I guess not. But you would leave Lea with me, right? I take great care of her."
"I guess I would have to. Lexi would be in jail," I chuckled.
"I would be in jail for what?" Niall and I both turned, Lexi behind us. Niall's face turned completely white.
"If... if anything would happen to Lea," I tried to lie as best as I could. Technically, I wasn't really lying; Lexi would do anything for Lea, might even end up in jail if something would happen to her.
She smiles, returning back to the party. I sighed in relief, Niall mimicking my actions. "That was close." I nodded my head, finishing my cigarette before returning to the party.

"All looks fine with mother and baby," my doctor told both Zayn and I as we observed the ultrasound. "Do you want to find out today what you're having?" I nod my head frantically without looking at Zayn first. I hear him chuckle beside me before agreeing with me. "Okay," the doctor said as she moves the camera over my stomach, searching for the private parts. "It looks like it's going to be a girl," she confirms.
"A girl? Really," Zayn questions. I can hear a little bit of disappointment in his voice. I knew he wanted a boy and secretly, I did too. But I was perfectly fine with another girl.
"Yup," she nods her head. "We can look again at your next appointment if you'd like. Sometimes they don't how till later in the pregnancy."
"Do you mind," Zayn asks me, taking my hand.
"No, I don't mind."
"Then it's settled. The ladies out front will schedule your appointment. I'll see you in two weeks." She handed me towels to wipe my stomach off before leaving the room.
"I'm sorry babe," Zayn tells me.
"For what?"
He shrugs. "For being a little disappointed I guess and wanting another ultrasound."
I chuckle. "It's really no big deal. I know you wanted a boy. I secretly wanted one too."
"You did," he sounds stunned. I nodded my head and his face softens. "I love you."
I motioned my finger for him to come to me, he smiles before placing his soft lips on mine, ours molding together as our tongues danced in our mouths. I placed my palm on his chest, breaking our kiss so that it didn't get too heated. "Calm down, boy. We're still in the waiting room."
"Well, let's go home then. I would love to have your plump lips around my dick." My mouth dropped in shock at his dirty words. I had been with Zayn for two years and I still can't seem to get used to his mouth. He smiles at me before taking my hand and leading me out of the office, his pace quicker than normal. And frankly, I wanted some alone time with him, too.
