Lucy's ham and cheese sandwich glares
at me with soggy dissatisfaction.
You haven't told me where you went on Saturday.
I looked up at her, my mouth full of half-chewed
words. I didn't leave. I was there
the whole time. I didn't leave you.
She threw her sandwich down into the brown
paper bag and crumpled it in her hands.
He raped me. Her eyes got wide. The other
girls stared me at me, stamping liar on my forehead
with invisible ink. I got up and walked into the bathroom.
