Vera's POV:

It was Travis's third day in LA. I had a shift today so I got up at the sound of my alarm and turned the shower on.

It was in the 90's today so the cold running water felt amazing running down my face. I jumped out of the shower and wrapped the towel around my body moving to my bedroom to pick out an outfit. I pulled out some black leggings out of my drawer and grabbed a black StarWars T-shirt out of my closet.

I walked back over to my bathroom to change and when I finished, I braided my hair back into two braids. I washed my face like always and put on some mascara and chapstick.

I finished applying the light layer of makeup and heard a loud growling noise from my stomach. I  placed my chapstick by the sink and walked to the kitchen where I discovered a sleepy, but clothed, Travis, sitting at the kitchen island.

"Morning Trav."

"Hey Lopez." he said groggily.

"Ready to hand at 118 for the day?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"You good?"

"Just exhausted. I've had more time to think about moving to LA last night."

"And?"

"And... I think I am going to. I would miss 19 like hell but I think I need to start fresh in a town without my unsupportive parents and a city where my husband did not die in."

"That turned dark quickly."

"I still have a couple more days to think so I will but it's likely I will stick with this decision."

"Whatever you do Montgomery, I am here to support you, 1000 percent."

I pulled some cereal out of the cupboard followed by some fresh strawberries out of the fridge. I ate my breakfast and went back to my bathroom to brush my teeth. I finished up and pulled on my Convers to leave the comfort of my apartment.

I grabbed my phone and keys and dragged Montgomery outside and into the car and began our short drive to the station.

I parked the car at the back of the station and as I opened my door, Travis followed. I made sure I locked my Jeep and we walked into the station greeted by everyone else there.

"Morning Val." Eddie said.

"Morning Eddie." I said sending him a short smile.

"How was your morning?"

"Pretty good. Could have been better if I was able to sleep in." I said posting a little. "How was your's?"

"About the same. Christopher had a nightmare last night so I had to stay up with him for like two hours before he decided it was okay to sleep again."

"Awww, how is he now?"

"Good. He's just a bit tired like me." He said giving me a sleepy smile. I rested my hand on his shoulder to reassure him a bit.

Just then the bells rang. There was a helicopter down near a track field. We all jumped into the truck including Travis. Nash was definitely trying to win him over. I have a feeling 19 and the 118 will definitely be rivals because thus far, 118 has stolen 1 firefighter and is on the way to stealing another.

When we pulled up to the scene there was a helicopter stuck on the bleachers. We were able to get the people out and turn off the propellers. Turns out it was a News helicopter and Taylor Kelly was in it.

The rest of the shift was pretty chill. After shift, Travis, Buck, Eddie, and I all went out for a drink until it got late and headed home.

The next morning started just as yesterday did.
