"The school confirmed Gabriel contacted the school but he never reached out again after the flier was sent out." Jay relayed the information the school had given them as they walked back into the room almost ten minutes later.

"Both sheets were washed but we did manage to find a fairly long piece of brown hair lodged between the mattress." Adam chimed in with a report in hand as he hung the paper up on the board. "Turns out it's a partial match to Gabriel, which could mean we're looking at a parental kidnapping instead of just a kidnapping, but we still haven't found any trace of who the kid's mom is.

"Then dig deeper. Go through records. Talk to neighbors and the lady who sold him the house and see what you can find out."

"It's almost time for school to be out." Jay looked out the second-story window as kids could be heard coming down the street. "Maybe they saw something we can use to find these kids."

"Good. Run with it."

Not having an accurate description or picture of the two siblings, Jay stopped at the edge of the sidewalk and waited for some kids to walk by. The first person was a boy who looked like he barely fit into his green jacket.

"Officer."

"Detective, actually." Jay pushed back his own coat and showed the badge attached to his side. "I'm looking for a boy around the age of ten and a girl around eight years old. They could be wearing dirty or worn clothing."

"Look around, detective. Most kids fit that description around here."

"Right. Thanks for your help." Jay muttered as the kid raised his hand and continued walking down the sidewalk. A few minutes later a girl around the age of nine with olive skin and curly black hair walked up to him."

"Hi."

"Hi."

"You're looking for someone, aren't you?" She looked in the direction the kid in the green jacket had gone. "I saw you talking to Oliver. He's a goofball but a complete jerk sometimes."

"I'll take that into consideration."

"Who are you looking for?"

"A pair of siblings. A boy around ten years old and a girl around eight. They were last seen wearing long sleeves, no jackets, and backpacks that looked too small on them."

"Uh, I don't think I have." Looking back, she waved her hand excitedly at a girl with straight blonde hair that fell around her face. "You should ask April. She remembers everyone around here."

"Thanks."

"Hey, April. Come here." She waved the girl over with big excited motions as she stood in place on the sidewalk. "Got a question for you." Eventually, April broke away from the two girls she was walking with.

"Make it quick." April sighed as she stopped in front of her with one hand sternly on her hip. "I need to walk home with my sister."

"He's looking for a boy and girl. Eight and ten. No jacket and backpacks too small for them. See them around?"

"They in some kind of trouble?" She eyed Jay warily, then focused on his police badge and relaxed her shoulders as she looked over her shoulder to catch where her sister was at and then looked back at him for an answer.

"We saw them walking past the precinct but haven't seen them since. We just want to make sure they're okay." Jay didn't elaborate to make sure these kids stayed protected, just in case somebody else was after them. Whoever had killed their father, would probably know they were out there somewhere.
