Here's the promised update! Proceed with caution, my loves. This chapter is...sensitive.
Deimos had earlier dismissed Lily by the mere wave of his hand. Now Lily is locked up in her bedroom by one of Deimos's loyal dogs. As she sits on the center of her bed, she sees the shadow of the stoic guard. Obviously on watch by her door.Lily is still wet from her impromptu swim, her head throbs but has long since stopped bleeding. Her duffel bag is probably now at the bottom of the ocean or perhaps still drowning alongside her dreams for freedom.
She pulls her legs to her chest. Her emotions are slowly stirring awake. The weight of the horrors that went down in the last twelve hours gradually begins to settle heavily on her chest. The realization that she's surrounded by her parents ghosts, shredded dreams and murderers has her sobbing quietly. The turmoils in her chest couldn't be contained by mere silence, so she lets it all out by screaming her lungs out, tears uncontrollably sliding down her cheeks. She pulls her hair, bangs her head against the wall, crawls her face, cracks her knuckles on the wall, all in an attempt to rid herself of the heaviness of loss on her chest.
Her attempts bring her no relief.
She screams and wails.
The pictures of her late parents, their dead faces, the unfairness of their death...her mother's revelation. Lily refuses to take to heart what her mother said about her being adopted. That can't be true. Ma was trying to save her (just like Pa did) and only said that 'word' out of desperation, and if the case was reversed, Lily would do anything to save her parents too.
But the question is: is Lily really a survivor? Or does that devil's reincarnated, Deimos, only keep her alive with the intent to drag out her parent's punishment? Parade her through the sneers and booing as the traitor's daughter? To slowly sap the life outta Lily until she's a walking ghost, fray, broken beyond the point of recovery?
That fate is worse than death.
For an unholy second, Lily hated her parents for pleading for her life...plead to what fucking end? To die no matter how brutal one met their end is easy but to live with the constant taunt of those thorny memories was the hardest thing to do. Her parents got it easy. How is she supposed to move pass their death?
Lily wants to die too. She crumbles. Clenching her beddings for dear life as she weeps.
She falls asleep crying. Only to jerk awake at the middle of the night from a nightmare. Shivering like a drowning lone chick.
The shivering persists into the morning. She's burning up and freezing all at once. The man who locks her in, periodically comes in and out, but Lily has her face to the wall and her back to the world. She doesn't care about what happens around her. She just wants to crawl up in a hole and die in peace. As the fever gets worse, she prays to fall asleep and never to wake. Hoping the fever will drain whatever form of life that's left inside her.
