Lily's eyes flicker open. The blinding lights from the open windows shoot pain in her head. She peels and unpeels her eyes. Blurred figures. Shapes.

She blinks, reaching to rub her eyes.

Her body throbs and she badly craves a chill bottle of water. Why's she lying on the hard floor of the living room? Why's she so sticky?

She makes to stand up, both hands pressing on the floor to lift her weight, but her hand slips. She looks down on her hands and discovers why they slipped...

She's lying in a pool of blood.

She cringes as she follows the trail of the blood and screams – or tries too. Her throat is so sour and dry she can't voice a sound. Her mother lies naked a stone throw away, her empty eye sockets slowly caking blood in her cheeks. Ma's mouth hang open, her frozen hands reaching out.

Lily cups her mouth, unknowingly smudging more blood on herself. She ignores her throbbing body and stands, her shredded gown slips off her body...

The horrors of last night assaults her memories, she gasps not able to breathe.

On her way out of the living room, just beside the door is her Pa's corpse, positioned to lean against the wall. His mouth is open as Ma's...he's missing both his eyes and his tongue. His hands too. He's beaten and mangled up passed the point of recognition.

Lily checks her body for any sign of abuse. She's not sore between her legs, she was not violated like her Ma save for her ripped dress. Her wrist was bruising, turning into an ugly shade of purple. Aside her thumping head and her bones groaning from sleeping on the hard floor through the night, she's 'fine'. She might not be physically hurt but her mind has been ruined, corrupted, scarred.

Lily quickly climbs the flight of stairs to her room, barely standing as she goes, leaving behind bloody footprints trail. As far as she's concerned, the house is empty. But she can't be too sure. Once inside her room, she locks the door. She's numb. Her emotions are non-existent.

Her parents are gone.

And she has to leave ASAP before the demon Deimos comes back and decides to finish up what he started. Or wait. She should call the police. She reaches for her phone on her nightstand and dials 911. The calls keep disconnecting automatically. A gunshot goes out outside and Lily jumps, her cellphone, tumbling off her hand.

Someone is here.

Are the police here already?

She rushes to her window and peers outside. It's sunny and the ocean is still blue. At the foot of the beach is a big ship...not the biggest she's seen but seizable. Men are parading the ship. She recognized some of them from yesterday.

Fear grips her and she's lightheaded from the weight of it.

She has to run. She has to leave. Like right now.
