As I rolled over, eyes still shut, I realized I should have rolled over onto someone. My eyes snapped open to see that no one was there, but a small piece of paper lay beside me.
As much as I didn't want to, I had to leave. Call me when you wake up.
-DerekI sat up and stretched before searching for my phone. Turns out, it was under the note Derek had left. I'm really not that perceptive first thing in the morning. It rang once before I heard his sweet voice on the other side.
"Good morning," he said. I could hear the smile in his voice.
"Good morning."
"Do you have any plans today?"
"None that come to mind."
"Good. I'm coming to get you in an hour. Bye."
He hung up before I could even comprehend fully what he said.
I pushed myself off my bed and into the bathroom. Quickly, I straightened my hair and applied my usual makeup then brushed my teeth. Rumaging through drawers, I decided on blue jeans, a maroon v-neck with a black tank underneath, and my Vans.
Strolling into the kitchen I found the house, again, deserted. There must have been a swim meet today and Isaac tagged along, probably against his will. I quickly ate a strawberry yogurt and waited for Derek.
Half an hour later, there was a knock on the door. When I opened it, I was greeted by Derek's intoxicating kiss, not that I minded.
"I'm never going to get use to that," I admitted.
Derek's response was a chuckle.
"So what's the plans for today?"
"I figured we could go to the distilery and just talk."
"That sounds great."
And it truely did. Most people wouldn't enjoy it, but just being with Derek was enough for me.
When we got there, Derek popped the trunk and removed a couple blankets. We layed out a small pallet and layed as close as possible. My head rested on his chest as his arms held me close at my waist.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
Derek hesitated, "Nothing? What made you think something was wrong?"
"I've always kind of had a feel for people's emotions. I can tell you're anxious about something."
He thought for a moment before answering.
"I'm just nervous about the game Monday night."
I could tell he wasn't telling the truth, but I decided to just let it drop. Not only can I read emotions, I could tell almost 90% of the time when someone was lying. I could pick up on signs most people couldn't.
"You're coming right?"
"If you want me to, I'll be there."
"Of course I do."
I smiled. But I was still wondering about what was really bothering him. I tried cuddling closer but Derek shifted so that he was looking at me.
"I want to know more about you."
"Like what?"
He smiled, "Everything."
"I don't know where to start, honestly."
"The begninings usually a good place."
"Well, I was born into a normal family. My father, my mother and my older brother, Camden."
