When I heard Scott's light snoring coming from his room, I decided it was safe to leave. As quietly as possibly, I opened my window, climbed out onto the roof, and jumped. I landed softly on the balls of my feet.
I took off into a sprint towards town, but stayed in the inner edge of the wood line. If anyone was to see me, they would definitely be able to tell I was not human. It felt good to be able to run, especially at this speed.
All of a sudden I stopped dead in my tracks.
I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. How do I even get someone alone and convince them to let me drink their blood?!
Hi, I'm a nice girl and I happen to be a vampire. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Please just let me drink some of your blood. Then I'll be on my way.
Yeah, that sounds good to me, if I want to be put into a psych ward.
And what if I accidentally kill them? What would I do with a dead body?
Jeez, I just needed to stop and calm down. Think, Bri. Think.
I have mind abilities. That's how I'm going to do it. Great. Now I had some form of a plan.

I strolled into Harry's Bar casually. When I reached the bar, I flashed the man my ID and ordered a beer.
"That'll be on my tab, Hank," the man beside me said.
"Oh, thank you," I replied shyly.
I looked over the gentleman who paid for my drink. He was tall and well-built. His eyes were dark brown to match his tousled hair. He was genuinely handsome.
He extended his hand towards me, "Name's Kyle."
I thought for a split second.
In my favorite book, Thirst, the main character, who is a vampire, uses different aliases when she's on the look for a victim.
"Haley," I smiled
"Well, Haley, what's a girl like you doing in a place like this all alone?"
"Just out for a quick drink before I head home from work. Take the edge off a rough night."
"What is it you do?"
"I'm a nurse at the local hospital."
"Cool. I'm studying to become an engineer at the college a few towns over. I was out driving around when I found this place and decided I'd stop in and check it out. All the bars near campus are always too crowded. I wanted to get away."
"I understand how that goes."
"So, you're a nurse? You seem a little young."
"I get that a lot, actually. How old do you think I am?"
Kyle thought for a second, "At least 18. Maybe 19."
"I'm really 24. I graduated high school early so that I could get my degree quicker."
"That's pretty cool. Are you from around here, then?"
"Yes. I've grown up here mostly my whole life. What about you. No offense, but you don't look like you belong in Beacon Hills."
We shared a laugh.
"No, I'm not. Is it that easy to see?"
"Yes," I laughed again.
"Yeah, I'm from Oregon. My mom and dad were hoping I would stay in state to get my degree, but I really just wanted to get out. Explore the world a little. Or at lest get away from home for a while."
