Professor McGonagall walked out of the great hall to gather all the first years that were just inside the door of Hogwarts, she told them to follow her into the great hall for the sorting.
The Professor stopped all of the just before she reached the high table where all of the professors sit. "When I call your name, you must come up to the front, I will put the sorting hat on your head and you will be sorted into one of the 4 houses, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin, but before that the sorting hat has a song for you" Professor McGonagall explained
'Maybe your in Gryffindor where there brave and help the others,
or maybe your in Hufflepuff where there patient and quite loyal,
or maybe your in Ravenclaw where there wit and intelligent,
or maybe even Slytherin where there ambitious and resourceful,
witch house will you be in? let the sorting begin...' the sorting hat sang
Professor McGonagall started reading the names of a large list with forty names,
first, "Amana, Chole" she called a small girl with a blond braid got up out of her seat and walked to the front, the sorting hat paused for a second then shouted 'Ravenclaw!' the Ravenclaw table cheered. after a while it got boring listening to everyone else being sorted so Rose, Lily and Emma started counting the tiles on the roof.
After a while they heard Haywood, Maya the soring hat went back and forth about what house she should be in but finally decided on Gryffindor, Maya's twin sister was next Haywood, Kayla 'Gryffindor' the sorting hat called and Maya and Kayla went to sit over by the Gryffindor table.
a couple of names later Professor McGonagall called "Granger-Weasley, Rose" she got out of her seat and walked to the front she could see Melody and Lily grinning and giving her the thumbs up signal before the hat was placed over her eyes, the sorting hat almost instantly said 'Gryffindor'
the girls went back to counting the tiles on the roof but paused when a boy named Scorpius was called, Lily knew he was Draco Malfoys son, his dads arch enemy but she couldn't help thinking he was pretty cute. Scorpius got put in Hufflepuff witch surprised everyone but the truth was he wasn't much like his father.
