ROSEWOOD, PENNSYLVANIA - SEPTEMBER 1ST 2009
Music blasted throughout the Hasting's barn, drowning out the grumbling thunder outside. The trees were blowing in the wind, leaves soaring through the air. A flash of lightning lit up the barn - revealing the laughter and smiles of five teenage girls, who were drunk off the bottle of tequila Hanna Marin had stolen from her house.
Despite the joy they felt, the group of girls were missing someone extremely important: Alison DiLaurentis, the ringleader. She was the one who had decided on celebrating her return from her grandmother's house in Georgia, but also because it was the final day of summer - and Alison would make up any excuse to have a party. Yet, the girl hadn't shown up to her own celebration. She was nowhere to be seen.
Each member of the group were drawn in by Alison. She was the one to create the group of unique girls with distinct personalities. She was the one that begun their close friendship. They owed her everything. Ivy always thought Alison picked them all because they were all so similar, yet so different.
Spencer Hastings was the intelligent one, who overachieved, enjoyed academic competitions, and ran for class president. Aria Montgomery was the compassionate one, and she was often seen photographing and writing. Emily Fields was the loyal friend, who had a heart full of kindness and was constantly swimming in the pool. Hanna Marin was admiring one, she had an eye for fashion and was incredibly strong-willed.
Ivy Marin was the self-sacrificing one. She was the one who would drop anything to help others. If her family or friends needed her, she would be there in a heart-beat. As well as self-sacrificing, Ivy was especially kind. The girls often joked about how the girl would never even hurt a fly. She was known to be a happy and bubbly person, who could always cheer anybody up.
Despite her bubbly nature, Ivy had a lot of skeletons in her closet. She was abandoned by her parents at such a young age. Her father, David Walker, left her mother, Jennifer Walker, when Ivy was only two, which sent her mother in a spiral of drugs and alcohol, neglecting Ivy. And less than a year later, Jennifer finally had enough; she dumped Ivy in Rosewood on the doorstep of Ashley Marin - who was her best friend in high school - and then she disappeared off the face of the Earth. Ashley and Tom were left to raise the little girl, and adopted her, having absolutely no contact from her parents. The police searched for the two, but they were unable to find them.
Her wrists were always decorated with colourful bracelets, and she consistently had a coat of nail polish on her nails. She was a year older than her friends, however, she was in the same year as them, as Ivy was held back a year because she refused to go into Kindergarten without her sister. Being the oldest in the group by a year, meant that Ivy took on a protective role. She was always the one to take the hits if somebody came swinging at them. But that wouldn't generally happen due to half the school and practically the whole population of Rosewood being terrified of their leader, Alison.
