______

(Y/n's POV)

As the ice cracked, and the water was rushing from underneath it. I gulped in nervousness and looked at Peter.

"We need to cross, now!" Peter hurried, grabbing his sisters.

"Don't beavers make dams?" Lucy asked, looking at them.

"I'm not that fast, dear." Mr. Beaver replied.

"Come on!" Peter pulled her along to the edge of the river. The cracking could he heard and it was melting pretty fast. Susan grabbed Peter's arm. "Wait! Will you just think about this for a minute?"

"We don't have a minute!" Peter snapped back.

"Just trying to be realistic," she defended.

"No, you're trying to be smart." Peter sassed back. "As usual."

Susan looks back at me, I shrug. She begins to move. I gasped as I heard what sounded like distant wolves howling, and quickly moved with them.

Peter tried stepping on the ice, but it spurts up with water, causing him to back away with a terrified Lucy.

"Wait." Mr. Beaver spoke. "Maybe I should go first."

Peter hesitated, and agreed. "Maybe you should," he replied.

Beaver went onto the ice, testing the strongest spots with his tail. My heart started to pound and I felt a small hand grab mine. I looked down to see it was Lucy's hand. I looked back to see Mr. Beaver still on the ice.

"You've been sneaking second helpings, haven't you?" Mrs. Beaver said.

"Well, you never know which meal's gonna be your last." Beaver said. "Especially with your cooking." Peter lead us to follow Mr. Beaver, holding Lucy closely by his side. Some parts creaked and cracked, causing Lucy to shriek in fear, holding her brother for safety.

"If Mum knew what we were doing..." Susan said nervously, a scared tone in her voice.

"Mum's not here." Peter replied to her, making her glare at him. There were cracks and pieces of ice fell off the frozen waterfall.

"Oh no!" Lucy shouted, looking up at what was running across the river from above us.

"Its the Witch's police!" I shouted.

"Run!" Peter shouted, grabbing Lucy and Susan and started to run the best they could before the ice broke.

"Hurry!" Susan shouted.

But we were too late.

Maugrim, their leader, had jumped in front of us and blocked our way, making Lucy scream. Along with other wolves from behind us. Mr. Beaver attempted to intimidate the wolf, only to be pinned down by it.

"No!" Mrs. Beaver shouted in worry.

"Peter!" Lucy shouted.

Peter quickly drew his sword and pointed it at the wolf, but he started to speak.

"Put that down, boy." Maugrim growled. "Someone could get hurt."

I quickly drew my sword as well and pointed it at him. "Stay back, Maugrim!" I shouted.

"Oh, don't even start with me, ex-warrior. You know my Queen would love to have you back since your betrayal," he growled.

I glared at him and looked at Mr. Beaver. "Don't worry about me! Run him through!"
