I couldn't believe it. My parents, they're gone. Literally twenty minutes ago, I was on the phone with my best friend, Shannon. My life was completely normal and I was expecting my parents to walk through my front door in an hour or so. Now, they're never coming home. The airline company called me and told me that my parents flight had crashed in the Pacific Ocean. They had gone on a romantic getaway to Hawaii. A typical place to visit, but they did it anyways. I collapsed on my couch and started crying. James, my younger brother, rushed over and asked me what's was wrong.
"Taylor, hey, Taylor" he says asked he grabs my shoulders. " What's wrong?"
"Mom and dad... they're not coming home." I whisper.
"What do you mean? Taylor, what are you talking about?"
"Their plane crashed, James. Mom and dad are dead."
James sits down on the couch next to me and takes a deep breath. Tears start trickling down his eyes. James is a really tough guy, and he usually never cries. He wraps his arms around me and we both just... cry. We cry for about half an hour, and we decide that we have to call our aunt, Kelly. She is our godmother, so if anything ever happened to our parents, which something did, she would take care of us. I pick up my phone and dial my aunts number. It starts ringing. Finally, I hear her voice on the other end.
"Hello?""Aunt Kelly?"
"Taylor!! Hey, what's going on?"
"Aunt Kelly,we need to you to come
over like right now.""What do you mean? What happened."
"Aunt Kelly, mom and dad are dead. They plane crashed over the Pacific on the way back home." I say through my stuffy nose.
"Oh my god, oh my god. Please tell me your lying! Taylor, your lying right."
"No Kel, I'm not lying" I say as I start crying again.
" Taylor, honey, it's gonna be all right. I'll book the first flight to North Carolina. Everything's gonna be okay."
"Okay." I whisper.
I hang up the phone and turn to James.
"James, Aunt Kelly is gonna come over as soon as she can and we're going to have to move in with her in California."
"What? What about school, our friends. Are we just going to leave them?"
"We have to. Kelly is our legal guardian. She's still in college so she can't just drop everything and move here. " I say as calmly as I can.
" Oh god." he sighs as he puts his face in his palms. He takes a deep breath and let's it out slowly.
" Hey, hey come on. This could be a good thing. Not about mom and dad dying but maybe this could be an adventure."
