One week passed by extremely fast. Before I knew it, the first day of school was a 9 hours away. As I got ready for bed, I was worrying about how I would make it through this year, and the next. I slipped under the covers and slid my phone under my pillow. I turned my lamp off and just lay there for a while. Before I knew it I had dozed off.

The next morning, my alarm went off at 6:00 am. I slapped my hand against my nightstand until my alarm clock stopped beeping. I groaned loudly and sat up on the side of my bed. I yawned and stretched as I got up to go take a shower. I grabbed my towel and put my hair up in a high bun to avoid getting it wet.( I had washed my hair the night before.) I hopped into the warm shower and quickly scrubbed my body and shaved my legs. I squeezed a small amount of face wash into my hand and scrubbed my face.

After about 10 minutes, I turned off the water, dried my body and wrapped my towel tightly around my body. I scurried over to my room and opened my closet to pick out my outfit.

I pulled out a pair of fresh undergarments from my dresser and since it was still quite warm outside, I chose a pair of medium-washed, destroyed jeans, with a light gray swing tank-top and pair of white converse. After I was dressed, I pulled out my hair brush, heat protectant spray, hair serum, blow-dryer and flat-iron. I sat on the chair in front of the dresser and quickly applied the hair serum, especially at my ends. Then I sprayed the heat protectant, again, especially at my ends. I turned the blow-dryer to "high power" and "cool air" and started running my brush through my hair.

After about fifteen minutes I had finished blow drying and continued into straightening it. Since my hair was already considerably straight, all I had to do was run the flat-iron though my hair a couple of times to eliminate frizz and ensure that my hair was completely straight.

After I was finished, I started on my makeup. I applied a little bit of powder foundation and light grey eyeshadow with eyeliner. I then applied a bit of lipgloss and was done. I slipped on my bracelets an grabbed my bag.

When I sat down at the kitchen table, James was already eating and Kelly and Courtney had already left for their class. Strangely, me and James could walk to our school but Kelly and Courtney had to drive 20 minutes to the university. I poured myself a bowl of coco puffs with almond milk and sat down at the table. I wolfed down my breakfast and checked the time. It was already 8:00 and the first bell rang at 8:15.

"James, we have to go." I called as I started to head towards the door.

"Coming, coming." He mumbled as he picked up his bag and walked out.

I closed the door and turned my key to lock it.

"Okay. Ready?" I asked nervously.

"Ready."

We started walking the 10 minute walk to school.

Me and James walked in an awkward silence, being that both of us were extremely nervous for our first day.

When we arrived to school, we said wished each other luck, said quick goodbyes and parted ways. I took a look around and found the sign that pointed towards the lockers. I quickly walked towards the lockers and found mine. My locker number was 859 and my combination was 34-15-47. I unloaded my backpack and stacked my stuff into the locker. Being that I didn't have enough time to decorate, I would have to wait until the end of the day. I pulled out my phone and anxiously waited the bell. As I was on my phone I felt the gaze of a hundred pairs of eyes on me. Finally, when the bell rang, I quickly stood up and scurried to my first class, Biology.

As I entered the room, I scanned the class. I looked towards the board in the front of the room and saw some words scrawled on the whiteboard. It said "Take a seat at a desk, we are starting an experiment today." I walked over and took a seat at one of the empty desk. The girl sitting next to me had long, straight blonde hair, a thin torso and thin but, not scrawny legs. She had blue eyes and some makeup on. She was really pretty and seemed friendly. After I had sat down, she greeted me politely,

"Hey, I'm Aubrey. " She said with a warm smile.

"Hi, I'm Taylor." I said, returning the smile.

"I heard our teacher is nice." Aubrey whispered as the teacher walked in.

"I hope so, I'm new here." I whispered back.

"Oh, you'll make friends in no time. Everyone here is pretty friendly I guess. Not really. The popular girls are bitches." She whispered back, while silently giggling.

"Oh." I giggled. "You're not a popular girl, right?"

"Well, I guess you can call me popular but I'm not a bitch like them." She whispered back.

Right as I was about to respond to her, a male voice spoke over me.

"Excuse me ladies, am I interrupting something?"

"Shit," she mumbled. "Oh, sorry Mr. Arbor. She's new here and I'm just explaining how things work around the school."

"Oh okay. Well why don't you save the chit chat for after class. Yeah?" He smiled sarcastically.

"Okay." Aubrey laughed.

After that, the rest of the day went by pretty fast. After Biology, I had Advanced English with Mrs. Kaler. After that, I had Humane Society which was my favorite for three reasons. One, the girl that is in my Biology class, Aubrey, was there, two, there are a lot of cute guys, and at the beginning of the year and the end, we get to go on two trips. Then, I had History, which was quite a bore and then after that, I had Science, then Advanced Math, and finally the dreaded class known as Physical Education, or P.E. I was extremely worn out by the time I had arrived home.

As soon as I entered the house, I walked into my room, threw my shoes into the closet, threw my backpack on the floor, changed into a pair of track shorts and a t-shirt and plopped on my bed. I pulled out my phone and looked through my social media apps. When there was nothing more left to check, I got up from my bed and scurried into the kitchen to fix myself a snack. I peaked into the pantry and spotted a pack of gummy bears.

"Hell yeah." I whispered as I snatched the bag and ran back to my room.

"Wait, I have homework." I moaned as I entered my room and saw my backpack. I glared at it for a good ten seconds before I picked it up and tossed it on my bed. I ripped open the pack of candy and took out my books. Since it was only the first day, I only had two pages of math and a worksheet in civics.

I finished it all in thirty minutes. When I was done, I had already finished a fourth of the bag. I started thinking and I realized that I should start looking for a job. I wanted to buy myself a few things now and then and go out with my friends and have a couple of dollars available if needed.

I unlocked my phone and searched, "jobs for high schoolers," on Google. I clicked on one of the first links on the page and it led me to a list of jobs. One of the first ones on there were "waiter/ waitress" and I definitely didn't want to be a waitress. I scrolled down a bit more when "lifeguard" and "babysitter" showed up. Those two were definitely options. I love kids and being a lifeguard would definitely work too. I send my resumè to both job offers and closed out of the Internet.

I glanced at the time at the top of my phone and saw that it was already 8:30 pm. I quickly changed out of my clothes and into a pair of comfy pajamas. Silently thinking about what time I should wake up, I decided that 5:30 would do the trick. Satisfied with my plan, I opened Netflix on my phone, turned off the bedside lamp and set my phone on my nightstand at an angle where I could still see the screen. I decided to catch up on a few episodes of my new T.V show of interest, Glee. After an episode or two, I dozed off.
