a lover that was oh so unique
a masterpiece, a work of art, a piece of fine antiquesbut we both knew our of love that was never meant to be
a love neither of us could guarantee
our love was one with many falls ,
anger-cracked walls ,
blurry nights we could never recall ,
and shattered glass scattered on the slippery flooroh but it was normal, for we never knew what was ordinary

and then end up back in bed with tangled bodieswe'd wake up as the sun dips underneath the horizon and do it all over again
we never learn
we never turnoh darling, but sure knew how to burn
we'd burn each others hearts
each and every partburn the connection ,
and end up believing it was rejectionwe'd burn all that is left of trust
burn that ardent lustand just when we start thinking there's nothing left
when we're both left feeling bereftwe'd burn the last straw our convoluted love left
oh sweetheart ,
we both know our love was the type that was ne'er meant to be,
and yet I can't seem to fully agree
I keep clinging to this far-fetched maybe...
